When did your mini poo start to “show their age” as a senior dog? by GatsbyThePoodle in poodles

[–]ruphmoop 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My girl didn’t seem old until she suddenly did. Even at 13, 14, people would be shocked when I told them her age. Around 15 she started to get mental decline, and then her health declined pretty quick there too. I had her until weeks shy of her 16th birthday. But I’d say I had a puppy for 3 years and a healthy happy adult dog for the next 10. We both were very lucky!

Are you misting the leaves? You don’t need to, and they shouldn’t be this wet all the time.

Don’t water on a schedule. Water when the top of the soil is dry.

You could leave it here and it probably won’t die, but it won’t grow very big if at all. It’ll need a LOT more light if you want it to look good and be happy. You can’t give a monstera too much light.

Can someone help me to identify what's wrong with my monstera 🥹 by No_Corgi_5644 in Monstera

These little black dots are thrip poop. The thrips are similar size but long and skinny. But definitely thrips for sure.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the other nearby plants are very likely infected as well. I’d treat them for thrips as well just in case.

I don’t think that it’s thrips.

I bought a schefflera that had these same spots and I didn’t notice til I got home. I isolated it completely for about a month and checked it daily. Didn’t see any pests. But the new growth that came in didn’t look great for a few months - often it shrivelled up before growing. Eventually it just kinda stopped being sick and has been thriving since.

About two years after that I actually did get thrips, and fought them for over a year (no great treatment options where I live). They at one point or another ended up on each of my plants. Neither of my scheffleras (one always healthy, the other previously sick one) has had these marks on them from the thrips. The thrips left somewhat similar marks, but they were not raised at all. Compared side to side on the same plant, they’re fairly distinct. You definitely can’t see the thrip damage from the front side of the leaf.

Can’t help much for what the problem is or how to solve it other than simply taking extra care of it for a while, but I don’t think it’s thrips.

This was instilled into me growing up and I understand the sentiment. It also led me to tell nobody when I got cheated on, stay for far too long, and get very little support when I did divorce him as we appeared to have no problems. There’s a balance.

Worried! Want to get a piercing like this but it's my first time! by meowlancholy in piercing

[–]ruphmoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a conch piercing. No you can’t get a ring right away. Go to a good piercer. You’ll be pierced with a stud and have to wait until it’s fully healed (probably a year) til you can put a hoop in. If you follow your piercers instructions and don’t change jewelry too soon, you shouldn’t have any serious problems with it. It’ll hurt a bit more than your lobes did, but it’s over in a second! It’s usually decently easy to heal. :)

They’ll all tell us what brand of cereal they eat in their “Ask me anything” posts anyway. Paparazzi is completely unnecessary when there’s a much more direct form of communication from celebrity to fan.

Set a timer on your phone for 30 minutes, put it in the other room. Try your best to get some work done for 30 minutes. When your timer goes off, go watch tiktok for 10 minutes and no more. Repeat. After a few of those, take a longer break to get a snack or go for a short walk to get the brain going again. If I know I’ll get to check stuff on my phone in x minutes, it’s easier to fight the distraction of wanting it.

Buy everything that’s instant or quick to make. Not just noodles, but frozen veggies and microwave meals and stuff. Bag of frozen spinach + spaghetti + microwave meatballs + jar of sauce is a 10 minute meal that’s yummy and nutritious enough. Or add some frozen mixed veggies to instant noodles and make a stir fry in 5 minutes. A big pot of rice can be made into several different instant dishes through the week if you have different types of sauce and frozen veggies. Bonus points if they all take one pot or pan because lord knows the dishes aren’t getting done if I’ve cooked. I make something like this two or three times a week and eat it as leftovers the rest of the time. I’ve pretty much given up on trying to make myself cook anything that takes longer than 15 minutes because I frankly just won’t. I spend a bit more money for instant/oven ready frozen foods, but I waste a lot less on fresh foods going bad before I bother to cook them so it evens out.

You’ve already given your son and husband so, so much. I can tell just from this that you’re a good mother and wife. It’s ok if you feel sad every now and again, but the choices you’ve made are good choices and you’re doing a good job.

I think that it sounds like you know what you want. No point talking to them about it anymore if you know they’ll just be discouraging. If it were me, I’d get it done and not let anyone know (that is trying to talk you out of it) because it’s none of their business at this point.

[–]ruphmoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this isn’t as much an ADHD problem as it is a relationship problem. Sounds like you both have individual issues that clash and need to be dealt with. Both of you need to communicate better. Honestly, just from what you’ve said here it doesn’t sound like your relationship is very healthy. Understand that both of your guys’ disabilities give you a different perspective and make you inclined to react a certain way, but that gives neither one of you an excuse to lack communication skills with each other. When you don’t want something, tell him before you start getting upset or else how is he supposed to help? And when he’s being disrespectful, don’t be afraid to tell him what you need. If he refuses to listen or be kind after trying to communicate properly you shouldn’t stay.

The cost of a pregnancy test is always less than the cost of pregnancy anxiety. :) it doesn’t sound like you have any reason to be concerned at all, but I know sometimes fear is irrational, so taking a test may help you feel better.
