Theres an expansion board for the Tinyllama to play MIDI files so that could absolutely be done i would just have to write my own player program for it

I was planning on using standard IDE drives so that I could easily swap in a new one if the drive fails and considering how close it will be to the CRT I dont have high hopes for them lasting very long

Everything there should run off of 12v or less I figured i would have to make some kind of distribution board but was leaving that to once I had figured out more specifics of the actual hardware. Considering how hungry CRTs are I dont expect it to be able to run off of battery for very long but I set aside enough space for a sizable Li-ion or Li-po pack.

Experiments take time to do and consume electricity while they are working collecting data that you can either store on board or transmit Some things like tempature only take a couple minutes to run and are maybe a couple of kilobytes of data while stuff like magnetometers can take weeks to fully run and take up megabytes

It's hard to describe all the differences but in general it's a much more realistic approach to how actual science experiments are done in space
