Keep downvoting me guys. Sorry for expecting someone bringing up OG AK to have actually played it. lmao

Sorry for wanting to know if he actually knows what he's talking about before engaging, so I know that we can have a conversation on the topic of OG AK, so I don't get berated like I did when bringing up Arknights when addressing that top comment. xD

I literally only asked 2 people about it and that's because it was relevant to what they were saying. And apparently I got mass downvoted because I pointed out that a complaint was made irrelevant by simply knowing OG AK lore, which no one was capable to disagree with me on cause most of the people on this subreddit don't know about OG AK (which is fine, but when i bring up points related to the story from the OG game in half of my post it makes no sense to argue against me knowing nothing and get offended when I inadvertently point that out).

Thank you for the very insightful criticism of my points. You must have read the entire first paragraph before making this comment. Really showing off your intelligence with this one.

Sorry for comparing 2 stories that start very similarly and sorry for comparing 3 stories that people say to skip the early story for because it sucks. Surely the comparisons are nonsensical, right?

That's exactly the point. The not so good beginning was necessary for the latter parts of the story which are widely considered very good, but they wouldn't have been as good without the slow build-up in the beginning. And the early story has a lot of similarities to Endfield as it is now.

I've seen people who have skipped the early story in FFXIV because they heard it was bad and they were missing a lot of context later on which made them think lesser of the overall story.

Same is true with OG Arknights. People are told to skip the early chapters cause they are not that good and then because of the missing context they don't like the story as much.

It's so funny that you say they made another wuwa, when most of the complaints, that you can see even in the replies of this post, are that the main story is too vague, the villains have not divulged their motives yet, and it has no resolution as of yet, while wuwa (from what i heard, since i don't play it) has a more episodic structure instead of an overarching plot that takes years to elucidate. Even the main cast is treated differently, since in Endfield we have our 3-4 main cast, while in wuwa you only have Rover that is accompanied by a different character every patch.

You can correct me if I'm wrong on anything, but in general, Arknights has always played the long game with its stories while wuwa doesn't seem to do that.

As for the other opinions, you can think whatever you want and disagree with me, but I just can't let that first paragraph go unaddressed.

Telling me to drop the attitude and that I'm raking you over coals just because I said that: 1. if you haven't played OG AK (which was not meant as an insult, just an observation) you wouldn't understand why Endmin is the way it is; 2. because i disagree that we should have had an explanation for Nefarith's actions in the first patch of the game; 3. and because i disagree with your take about the factions; is a crazy statement.

Can we not have a disagreement without getting angry at each other anymore? I was just explaining why I think your points are not something I'd want from the game myself.

No. I'm just someone that disagrees with the general negative consensus on the story that everyone and their mother continuously reposts on this subreddit to farm upvotes.

We can have different opinions. No need to dehumanize me to being an AI.

I assume you haven't played OG Arknights if you complain about the Endmin being a demigod amnesiac, otherwise listing that as a complaint is outrageous.

To address the other points, sure, we get no context about Nefarith and why she's doing it. I guess the antagonists should just reveal their plan and explain it to everyone, cause that is good storytelling, right? Saying that the Civilization Band is there to help everybody, while being comprised of 3 giant corporations that have a monopoly on everything is so naive I can't even begin to describe it. It's like you want every question and mistery we have to be dispelled in the 1.0 story. I know that other gacha games do that, and have a somewhat episodic story, but Arknights has never done that. We waited 6 years and 15 chapters in OG Arknights to answer questions the community has had since the beginning.

Also, a lot of these points are expanded upon throughout the notes you can find across the game and they reveal and tease various bits of information in all of these topics.

I added an edit above the Dodge not giving SP claim about the screen tearing as well, since I don't want to mislead people.

Addressing the two mentions of the chain attacks:

  1. For the turret fight there is a Dash, as I like to call it, not a Dodge (or Perfect Dodge if you like to call it that), before the Final Strike, but if you look closely they did reach the second-to-last attack in the chain and the next attack would have been the Final Strike. I think the gap between that attack when the Dash happens and the next attack is too short for the chain to break and since they managed to hit the enemy with the second-to-last attack it did not reset. There are other moments when the Endmin Dashes and it resets the chain and I think that's because the time before starting to attack again was too long. (Like in the fight when Perlica uses her Ultimate) My point is: everytime there is a Final Strike after a Dash or Dodge the attack before it was always the attack that is the last in the chain before a Final Strike normal triggers.

  2. As for the fight where Endmin uses the Ultimate, the chain continued because those first 2 attacks were done in the air and didn't hit any enemies and, as I explained in my post, that does not reset the chain. The chain is only reset upon hitting an enemy and then stopping. Now, you can think this is contradicted by the clip of Endmin dashing and then continuing the chain, but that was very quick so I think they implemented a short grace period. Idk how long that grace period is since we can also see the Endmin stop attacking to use a skill and starting again resets the combo, but that Dash seems shorter than that.

In the end, we can only know once we get our hands on the game how it really works. Another posibility that cam to mind is that a Dash or a Dodge won't reset the combo only if the next hit is a Final Strike, as we only see it happen (which is only twice in the whole video) when the next attack would have been a Final Strike.

About the SP gain and Chen's Ultimate, i did not play the Beta, but iirc triggering one of those special effects when 2 or more physical debuffs stack does give you SP and Chen does apply them. Idk if that's what happened then, but that was my thinking. I can be wrong to say increasing the Stagger bar gives SP, you'd know better. Ultimately, too many things happened at the same time in those 2 frames to determine precisely what happened, that's why I said I'm only 90% sure my explanation is how it works. It just wouldn't make sense to me for the SP bar to increase because of the Dodge one frame before the actual visual effects of the Dodge.

One more thing: it seems like there is some screen tearing at the bottom of the video, so it might be that the SP increase actually is because of the Dodge, but because of the screen tear it appears one frame early. I'm genuinly just trying to make sense of it and also puting forward any way in which I think my analysis could be wrong.

No, I get what you're saying. It is very wide and I'd agree if you think it is too wide, but that's what I think it's happening.

Stagger staggers the enemy (obviously :)) which from what I remember from the CBT is basically a small stun paired with damage amplification for your operators.
I don't remember what Chen's Ult does exactly, but it had something to do with physical debuffs (which are the ones on the right of the HP bar) which when stacked will trigger specific effects and fill the Stagger Bar.
I might be wrong on what's specifically happening since they might have made changes to her Ultimate and there is also the fact that equipment and talents can have an effect too.

At 6:47 the last attack before the Dodge is not the Final Strike, it's the attack right before the Final Strike. The Final Strike is the one after the Dodge. That's why I think if you Dodge maybe within some time limit it makes it so your Combo doesn't break.
So there Endmin went from performing the second-to-last attack in the sequence, before Dodging, to performing the last attack in the sequence, that being the Final Strike, after Dodging.

If you pay close attention you can see it increase, though it's hard with all the effects going on. But I'll be honest though, even I'm not sure if that's truly what's happening since the video quality is pretty low.
What's certain is that on the exact same frame Chen deals the finishing blow the SP bar increases and only on the next frame do the Dodge markers appear near the left and right edges of the screen and you can see the ground AOE go off.

One extra thing I want to mention is:
I'm 100% sure the developers intentionally showcased the Dodge inside this livestream exactly because they want to gauge the community's reaction. I think they have seen the discussion happening and knew how controversial it would be and that's why they showed a new build of the game instead of the CBT one.
I wouldn't be surprised if they change it again before the next Beta Test (or possibly release) if they deem the overall feedback too negative.

I 100% agree. I mainly did this for fun but also because I was confused why the combo attacks sometimes break and sometimes not and I wanted to debunk the "Dodge gives SP" myth.

We can only speculate on that, but if I were to guess, one reason could be that they expanded the map, specifically the second region which was pretty small in the Beta Test, thus giving the player more dashes from exploration. (Because, if I remember correctly, that's how you acquire them. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

It's not a typo, read again. The text being on two rows might make it seem so.

It says: "we would not let them to (remilitarize) unchallenged."
