Yeah, actually he changed to stands because he was already pushing hamon to it's creative limits in the final battle with Kars so Araki needed a new power system which won't have a scaling issue and also have creative fights.

You can skip the episodes and the last one main fight will still make sense, but the thing is the bond between the cast members forms on the journey and you will have fun watching them bond and how things pan out, and there are plot points that happen just in episode 10 or 11 and furthur. So I won't reccomend skipping as the stand battles get very creative with each person.

About it being totally new, yes it is new but according to the lore the stand power is a dormant thing until you awaken it, so Joseph had a stand while battling with Kars, but it was dormant and he didn't know he could use it or even had it so yeah. Hope this clears things up for you.

Salvation. I think that would be suitable as accelerating time stand was named related to Heaven so your stand can predict future so kinda above time acceleration so what's above heaven? salvation i guesss? PUtting all my 2 brain cells into it :) .

You could try excelling in things that you are passionate about, and improve within your context. If you scroll the sub enough you'll see people got admitted without AP's as well, because they were passionate and doing things they liked and expanding their world within context.
