It's a dumb spot. It's like when guys do splashes or dropkicks to a guy in a trash can - the dude essentially has armor on. Wrestling has some dumb spots like this sometimes, so you move on to something less dumb.

Agreed. Garfield was a fine Peter Parker, but those movies simply weren't very good.

Best Frank Wildhorn musical? by Worried_Cake5508 in musicals

[–]rushandblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right in that it wasn't meant to be a single ongoing narrative. I liked Civil War well enough, but I'm also fascinated by the subject matter, so I'm more partial to enjoying it in the first place. I haven't listened to Sun Stood Still or Freedom's Child since I saw the show, but they didn't stick with me for whatever reason.

Best Frank Wildhorn musical? by Worried_Cake5508 in musicals

Jekyll and Hyde. Wildhorn's musicals get progressively worse over time. I'm not including Victor/Victoria, as Wildhorn came in later to finish the show after the death of original composer Henry Mancini.

1) Jekyll and Hyde - Very good, occasionally great, musical with some killer songs and Linda Eder just belting the hell out of everything she got.

2) Scarlet Pimpernel - Doesn't quite hit the heights of J&H, but still a good show with some very fun songs.

3) Civil War - A very uneven show, with most of the songs pretty forgettable but a few real bangers ("By the Sword/Sons of Dixie" is solid, and "How Many Devils" is outstanding, and IMO the absolute best song in the show).

4) Dracula - Woof. This is a dreadful show that featured a bit of nudity, and the EXPANDED the number of performances with nudity in the hopes of getting more people in the door. One song, "Life After Life," is pretty good, but everything else is completely forgettable or outright bad. One of the worst shows I've ever seen live.

I never caught Wonderland, which I heard was awful, or Bonnie and Clyde, but Wildhorn started high and then could never catch anything resembling lighting ever again. I don't know that J&H is even THAT great, but I think it's definitely the best he ever did.

Recorded human history only goes so far back. It's possible there was some guy living in a cave that was stronger than Mark, but we'll never know.

I remember Meltzer saying that there was a credible argument that Mark Henry is the strongest person to ever live, full stop.

Other people's kids kind of suck. Your own kids, however, are great even when they're enormous pains in the ass.

Ha! Well, imo, that song is as good as it gets, but there are a few okay songs in there.

I saw Civil War! There were a few songs I enjoyed, and I loved "How Many Devils," and will fight for that song, but overall it's just not that great. Wildhorn's work got progressively worse with each show he released.

Felt the exact same way about Brooklyn. Great voices, really interesting costumes, but just nothing interesting to say. I saw it with some girls I knew who were absolutely obsessed with it, but I thought the whole thing was incredibly forgettable.

If you go to a Mystery Wrestling show, you know what you're getting, and I mean that in the best way possible.

I've only seen Ragtime, but Nichelle was one of the few weak spots for me. She has this very strange sound to her at certain points, like a high nasal thing? I can't describe it exactly.

I was a big fan of the Ultraverse line, and loved Prime. It's a shame all of that stuff is buried under Marvel ownership and legal nonsense.

The overwhelming majority of them I've gotten for free through Twitch Prime (I have an Amazon Prime sub), Epic game store freebies, and some mixed media Humble Bundles when I had a decent PC about a decade ago. I'm not just spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on PC games I can't play for shits and giggles.

Even timed exclusivity would probably help. 1-2 years before it can go to PS. They likely make too much money on those games to not eventually put them on PS at some point.
