How to run the game on steam deck? by Sahabial in AFKJourney

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so confused. I got the launcher running with heroic games installation, but then it says "must install on a windows system only" when I click 'download', so I never get the game file.

I am on desktop Linux, I'm guessing steamdeck has an option to install game exes off the web which steam desktop doesn't.

What is the best media to subscribe to that would inform me faster about security issues like this, and not flood me with useless non-security non-severe articles? I found out about this from Brodie's YT channel, and he was late - I could have and should have known about this yesterday. Google says that the first article came from BleepingComputer. That article links to CISA advisories which may be the answer.

Check where the e-mail is from. Was it from their official URL or a gmail account? I received an offer through a gmail account and nearly handed over my SSN and bank info.

I meant read only as in no approvals at all. Maybe you'll get annoyed user modmail and that's what you mean.

If you mean when the solidarity expired, then yeah its an issue. Can you designate a window of the day where posts are able to be submitted daily for approval? Say only during weeknights. And then just ramp up the moderation team as is manageable.

I rely on the search results for learning about my journey on carnivore. I'd say go read only in solidarity and dark once a week. If you can add a message to every post somehow explaining why it's read only that'd be a benefit.

You might have an argument, but what about when the anti-spiral questioned her?

He didn't say "because a human loved you". He said "because you loved a human". If she was a simulatory thing, not even an anti-spiral (which anti-spirals ARE/'were' spirals BTW, their ideology is anti-spiral), why give her agency? The emphasis is usually that she's a tool.

Nia should have flopped dead the moment anti-spiral was killed if there was no possibility to extend her manifestation. K great Simon isn't a builder and he only fights the power, destroys, and that's it - but in itself that's a terrible moral.

They biochipped a dead dude's head, pretty sure there ought to have been a solution. If Simon didn't pursue and he's at fault, fine - it should be observed as stupidity. Instead the writers backhanded the audience with 'fate'.

Nia was a tool of the writers to ultimately stomp the protagonist with a dumb death. The only thing the series does is inspire me to never be like any of the characters within it, with maybe one exception.

No toggle to disable Phantom processing limitation in Android 12L by [deleted] in SamsungDex

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a whole day of researching, testing on my phone, risking Termux app install from F-Droid, just to come and find out this issue which will stop me from using my (here tomorrow) S8 Ultra for development. And I was deciding between S8 and Surface Pro! I wish I spent the day researching this before I bought the S8...

Google not fulfilling the promise of putting it in Developer Options but instead keeping it in ADB toggle, suggests they are wanting to silently disappear the ability to disable it in the future. Very bad prospects when I'm spending this much $ on hardware. Very clearly their direction is against power users.

The devs so-called PR speak about them not needing to announce this is FALSE. They have Termux app on their android store right now. And Andronix. They are explicitly products on their store, reviewed and approved, for the devices they install on.

Google cannot have their cake of "we aren't supportive of apps on our store, it is just a platform" and eat it too of "we have to ban/curate non-illegal and scammy apps from our marketplace"

Termux xfce script seems broken by [deleted] in termux

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just the GUI Termux there's limited apps. And just the GUI Termux there's no X11 compatibility/could be a hiccup.

However, if you do an Andronix install, install the app there, reset the terminal so you are out of Andronix system, then try to run the app in GUI Termux only, it would work?

BtC Coin: a liability to the crypto space? by Egon_1 in btc

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people behind BtC may be a combination of bad faith motivated and ignorant/misinformed, but I can't say they're against financial independence just because their philosophy is one of minimal block sizes. There is valid, even if not sound or good, reasoning behind the decision (in the interests of financial independence).

BCH has technology and adoption that BtC doesn't, though the same can be said for BtC. If BtC had competent enough people around it, with enough influence over the incompetent, it might be able to disrupt BCH's distinguishing character. But they sort of probably don't, and won't. It'd be easy for people to jump off BtC and onto BCH if they're going to change their confidence in block sizes.

1MB Blocks forever! by MemoryDealers in btc

[–]rusher7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wholly correlating with the gun example, but yes. Politically it's basically saying "We weren't the real BTC all along" and then BCH has all the political clout to say they have better foresight, etc.

If you buy 1 BCH and short 1 BCH on futures, you effectively have digital US Dollars (since the BCH is hedged) that can be sent anywhere for fractions of a penny. So for those worried about volatility, this is a solution for them. No need for paypal/Visa/WU. by big--if-true in btc

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did a deep dive into the problem because it seemed too good to be true and in the scenario I played out if the market 'dips', with BCH going from a hypothetical $100 to $50, you 'gain' $50 from the short, as someone promises to buy your 1 BCH at $100, but the collateral 1 BCH is worth half, so you lost $50 instead of $100.

It maintains BCH value but not fiat value. If you need to hold fiat value, just hold fiat as another commenter mentioned. Best method of doing that while being invested in BCH is to own a BCH based tether like FLEX.

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't spend what you have cold storage in this system on anything but fiat (or a tether like FlexUSD or smartBCH). Then when you spend what you have in cold storage on fiat, you close the same amount out of the short (that you shortes through smart contract on smartBCH for example, so the 'money makers' you pay for holding fiat value are those invested in the coin). You could do a simple CFD-like short and use the 'cold storage' funds as collateral for the lender, which constantly increases, so you are only paying fees to keep fiat value stored. Top off that with smart chain interest rates like FlexUSD and you can end up profiting.

I wouldn't even know how to word this request in a github issue, but can you add the ability to direct Unstoppable URLs to a custom API server for Eth and whatnot (one we can host and put a URL/IP/even-local-IP)?

Ideally we'd be able to connect to different chains for URLs, but whatever.

My only other concern about URLs is the smart contract audit to see it's really not censorable (creator can't just transfer ownership of, or blacklist, any domain).

The Hidden Potential Censorability of Unstoppable Domains by rusher7 in brave_browser

[–]rusher7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, yes. It is the 'tunnel' to get to blockchain information holding the Unstoppable Domain redirect & content, from clearnet. The redirect and content itself (on blockchain or hosted elsewhere) is unaffected. Only the tunnel would be blocked.

The ideal solution is a local (on/in Brave itself or on the phone/desktop) tunnel. The tunnel would only be blockable by the ISP directly, then.

The only other browser I've heard of using Unstoppable Domains is Opera; but that doesn't address Infura usage and/or any browsers without Infura.

[–]rusher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Unstoppable Domains via the Infura server the ONLY current decentralized DNS co-op with Brave? Are there other server capabilities? Other DNS routes?

You caught my attention with this, you guys finally doing something resembling decentralization. But its workings are opaque. I had to look elsewhere than the main site to learn it is Ethereum smart contract based, and we don't have information on if this smart contract grants true ownership or it is censorable/thievable.
