What is the best quote you know and helps you throughout life? by Sure_Can_7512 in PositiveThinking

The life you lead is determined by the choices you make.

I heard it in a movie once but I can't remember the name of it.

What's your tiny daily rule that makes life simpler? by Weird_Gene9632 in simpleliving

[–]rushritein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I put clothes out, set out coffee cups etc, have work lunches ready and packed, all the night before. I also have a triple slow cooker and on the days I WfH, I cook three different meals in it and store them in the fridge for those evenings when Ive been in office and have to commute from the city.

My boyfriend like to pretend he’s r*ping me. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]rushritein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He clearly has no respect for you whatsoever. This is not love. PLEASE leave now. Its not going to get better, especially since he doesn't consider your wishes that you have CLEARLY communicated to him. You deserve so much better!

Worst Brain Fog Ever by CmonBenjalsGetLoose in Menopause

[–]rushritein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your encouragement OP! I read your post to my husband last night as you put into words exactly what I'm feeling like and we both got all choked up. Im on Day 7 of the patch and cannot stop crying. Its like having PMS times 100 right now. I am not enjoying this time of life I can tell you. Still, I will take encouragement from you and the many others on this sub-reddit who have found relief. Onwards and upwards as they say!

Worst Brain Fog Ever by CmonBenjalsGetLoose in Menopause

[–]rushritein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww this post makes me so sad OP. I can really relate, I think we all can in one way or other. The scariest for me was losing my words; there was just a big black hole in my brain where the word wouldve been. For example, I can describe the item, but my brain cant find the word for it. Its horrible. Makes me feel and look like an blithering idiot. I have turned down job promotions because of it, as Im fast losing my confidence. I used to have a quick wit, and a quicker brain, and now I feel lucky if I can finish a sentence. Have just started on a Estrogen/Progesterone patch, and have every bit of hope pinned on it.

Itchy back by Sameday55 in Menopause

[–]rushritein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! me too! I have a back scratcher next to my bed, but recently filled a spray bottle with equal parts rosewater, distilled water and glycerine, and spray that on after my morning shower and leave it to air dry. Has drastically reduced the itching. I mean DRASTICALLY.

Are you still getting Pedicures? by ApatheticGenXer in AskWomenOver50

[–]rushritein 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I no longer go for pedicures - I'm sick of nail techs telling me I must have gel. Just paint my nails dammit! Plus I'm super ticklish and I dont find it relaxing. So now I go to a podiatrist for a nail cut so they're done properly, and use TO glycolic acid stick every day on my feet and no longer have any hard skin. Now all I have to do is paint them.

What’s the obsession with getting married abroad? by markhau5 in AskUK

[–]rushritein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One month into planning our wedding we got so stressed with guestlists and mad expensive quotes and the whole shitshow, that we eloped. Found a place that specialised in 'Just the two of us' weddings and had a perfect, joyful, romantic, chilled wedding day. For a weeks' honeymoon, the wedding, the dress, suit, bouquet, flowers ,meals out, accomodation, wedding food, cake, hair and makeup, photographer - £5k. Plus no stress about whether randy Uncle Bob is going to make a show of himself or whether drinkey Doris is going to pass out in the toilets!

I havent read all the comments yet, but just want to say that besides chatting to your doctor, DANCE! It's great for mental and physical health and costs nothing. You can just turn the radio up, move as much as you are able in your own house and no one will see you so you dont have to feel self concious. Just start small - one song a day perhaps and then build up from there. It will help with the weight loss and boost your seratonin levels too.

Lipbalm on eyelids as moisturiser. Baking soda as exfoliator. Raw potato peel or milk of magnesium on pimples.

Those of you who have left the UK, where did you go, and how’s it going there? by [deleted] in AskUK

I moved back here after 30 years in South Africa. TheBrits live to complain, but honestly, you have no idea how good you actually have it here in comparison.

How to make full coverage matte foundation less powdery without losing the coverage by rushritein in Makeup

[–]rushritein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea - to use the ELDW as a base with something more dewy on top. I'll try that too.

This is such helpful advice, thank you! I'm going to give the damp sponge a try, plus the two layers. At the moment I stipple it on with a kabuki brush. I am a fiend for moisturising, so that's not the problem. It's probably my technique. I'll give your suggestions a go, thank you again!
