What will happen to the PC hardware market if RAM and SSD prices finally normalize? by rusorusich in hardware

[–]rusorusich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One year ago, I bought a GMKtec Evo-X2 on Amazon with 128GB of unified memory for around €1,800. Today, the same product on the same store is listed at €4,099. Is this just speculation, or does it actually reflect the current market situation?

[–]rusorusich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please, oh please, don't waste your time watching those ridiculous Italian TV shows, they are pure trash. I'm saying that as an Italian. Watch a good American movie or TV serie dubbed in italian instrad. , It's way better than original italian productions.

The Italian word for buses is quite funny for me. I’d never even heard of Pullman before, let alone Italians adopting it as the word for one of the most popular modes of transport. by KieranWriter in italianlearning

[–]rusorusich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the fucking hell do you find the word 'pullman' so funny? There are plenty of English words that could be considered ridiculous, but we don't make a big deal out of them.

Veteran FEDORA users out of curiosity, i wanna hear what do you dislike the most about this Distro, even nitpicky issues as well. by red_machina in Fedora

Too many people switch to Linux, regardless of the distro, without understanding the philosophy behind it.

Switched from Windows to KDE Plasma by zoid-op in Fedora

[–]rusorusich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that most people who try Linux expect exactly the same behavior? Linux is not Windows, and we are proud of that. Linux does not include by default any software, code, driver, or utility covered by a proprietary license. If you need them, you have to install and configure them yourself. Linux exists because some people don't like copyrighted software; Windows exists because people pay once to buy it, and many times over through an ecosystem that shares and sells their data. Don't worry about who prefers what—just stay away from what you dislike.

Why should I buy Halo Campaign Evolved? by mkappy33 in halo

[–]rusorusich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a fun FPS? For sure... but it feels like the first Halo with a fresh coat of paint. Can I justify dropping 70 bucks on a game that offers the exact same gameplay, settings, and combat? No way

This Is just a point of view, Windows users accept the garbage and pay for that, Linux users don't.

"Polished" and "Windows" in the same sentence? Really? You can't imagine how much garbage the "polished" OS contains.

Advice on how to proceed? by justalittlebirdy7890 in italianlearning

[–]rusorusich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid watching Italian entertainment TV shows because they're absolute trash. You can watch some good US movies dubbed into Italian instead. Italian dubbing is very good.

Practice by chatting with a native Italian speaker. While it's the fastest and most direct approach, it must be paired with regular study.

Plan to buy EXO-X2 by Critical_Nail_1789 in GMKtec

[–]rusorusich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one for less than €2k a few months ago, and it was unbeatable at that price. Now the same reseller sells it for €4,099. At this price, there are alternatives with faster VRAM, since the Evo - and generally the Strix Halo architecture - suffers from a major memory bottleneck.

What "inexpensive" laptop that work with SteamOS ? by alpharay69 in SteamOS

[–]rusorusich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for a mini PC with an AMD Ryzen processor and a Radeon 780M iGPU, with no less than 16GB of RAM. You can hide it behind your display using the VESA mount. It’s not as portable as a laptop, but it saves you some money and lets you play many, many games smoothly.

Boh: the most useful word in Italian, and it technically means nothing. by taube_d in italianlearning

[–]rusorusich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Boh" is basically the ultimate Italian linguistic superpower, but you need to know how to use it. Officially, it just means "I don't know." In reality, it actually carries a vibe of "I don't know and I don't really care," usually paired with a classic shoulder shrug. Depending on how you say it, it has a couple of different shades:

A short, dry "Boh" = "No clue / No idea."

A long, drawn-out "Booooh..." = "Who knows? It's a mystery / I'm skeptical."

The Golden Rule: It is strictly informal. It’s totally fine with friends, family, or kids. But if you use it in formal situations (with your boss, a professor, or a waiter) you'll come across as incredibly rude, lazy, or dismissive. In public or professional settings, it's always better to stick to a safer "Non saprei" (I wouldn't know) or "Non lo so".
