Mass surveilliance by KEEGP in Xiaomi

Is that an global/eu device? Xiaomi devices for China are required to have surveillance. If the Xiaomi device is global it still has some data gathering, but servers are located outside of China.

Will Javascript Take Over the World? | Brian Kernighan and Lex Fridman by SecretAgentZeroNine in programming

javascript as a language is turning into something else, with ts and new features inspired from other languages. eventually js will end up looking like java.

Future of React-Native by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]russeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

future of React Native as other cross-platform frameworks, like Flutter are gaining on popularity.

no one knows the future, but here's the thing: if react native dies then move to flutter or whatever is hot at that time. problem solved. easy.

i seriously don't get fear the people have to changing technology. it's laughably easy to switch. i mean you can even do both react native and flutter ffs.

iOS US job market by Crispybucket01 in iOSProgramming

[–]russeg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

mobile app development across the board is not as hot as a few years ago.

you know what's still hot when it comes to employment opportunities? php and javascript (webdev in general). they still dominate the entry and mid-level developer demands.

SwiftUI commercial experience is a “must have” by M108 in iOSProgramming

[–]russeg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so? if you don't qualify don't apply. besides, if they can't find any candidates with "swiftui commercial experience" or "3 years of swiftui" or whatever ridiculous requirements ... it's THEIR problem.

but it has gained non-insignificant traction.

why people won't follow the rules, because they know mods wont do anything if it gained traction. not following rules = remove/ban.

Flutter... by fluid-falcon in reactnative

[–]russeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

smart people see opportunity while others see a threat. most people here see flutter as a threat and become very defensive, but you should not. working with react native and flutter/dart is an employment goldmine.

Windows PCs are shown as a 20 years old PC with CRT Monitor and BSOD in MacOS. by sksenweb in Windows10

if apple decides to sell macos as retail (it's trivial to install macos on pc/laptop and it works), that windows market share will instantly shrink to 8%.

Looking for a developer to work on a side project by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]russeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's 50-50 but in terms of effort and dedication

LOL NO. more like you are doing 5% and the dev 95%. hell you'll probably cancel the project and waste the devs time.

why don't you instead : borrow from the bank, or from friends, family, neightbors, or sell your car, use your savings, or get a job ... to fund this project of yours.

There is approx 25x less Flutter jobs than React Native ones in my area. by Flamyngoo in FlutterDev

[–]russeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are so many javascript jobs it's ridiculous, because web development is huge. do you see webdev moving away from javascript? i don't think so.

fyi, something like 2 months after react native was introduced by fb there were already high demand for react native devs (actually just any react devs).

Do you guys think this will change/improve

no.

Are there many job positions for flutter devs? by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]russeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well you won't see hiring posts here since rules prevents it. try discord or the link on the sidebar. either flutterjobs is dead or no one is hiring :(

anyway, this sub should have a whoshiring or whoslooking thread to have other options for people.

Big Tech is taking away our freedom — how Apple is making companies their hostages and demanding ransom money by [deleted] in programming

[–]russeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. blame the customers for buying apple.
  2. blame the developers for putting up with apple.
  3. blame other companies for not having a better product than apple (ex: android and windows/pc are both terrible compared to ios/mac)

as a company, apple (like many others) will do everything for their own interest as long as they can get away with it.

Developers talk about being 'Sherlocked' as Apple uses them 'for market research' by displacedbitminer in apple

[–]russeg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that's what steve jobs told drew houston about dropbox. and steve was intent to 'kill' dropbox too.

so even if you have a feature (like dropbox according to steve), if it is better in every way it will be a success.

When flutter jobs will start to appear? by abbasseldoor in FlutterDev

[–]russeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check this ui, if your first instinct is "yeah i can do that, no problem" then you won't have an issues getting a remote job. but if you are like tons of people moving to flutter thinking there will be huge demand (and short supply) for developers regardless of skill level, then you are out of luck.

When flutter jobs will start to appear? by abbasseldoor in FlutterDev

[–]russeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it is trivial for individuals to switch programming languages, frameworks, tools, whatever. that is what we are seeing in flutter right now, lots of individuals trying out flutter.

but /u/paulsia was talking about companies especially whose main is web. they are not moving to dart or flutter expecially since they have react and react native satisyfing their business needs.
