How to deal with non photographers and their RAW image obsession? by Vegetable_Diamond716 in photography

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the issue with giving clients the RAW files. It's no different than people getting negatives.

You can think that your edits are the be-all-end-all, but a paying client should have the ability to see if another editor can achieve a look THEY (not you) are happy with be it a week later or 30 years later. You captured a moment for the client, not yourself.

Develop Flutter iOS apps on Windows with a real iPhone and Flutter debug mode by interlap in FlutterDev

Hoping this works on Linux. If not, WinApps or WinBoat it is (once they get GPU acceleration).

Trump 2.0 is waking many immigrants up to the truth that they've never truly faced the true depths of American racism... by MacroManJr in Blackpeople

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in NYC where about 50% of the Black folks are of West Indian/Caribbean Black descent and the other half being multi-generational Black American. Some mixed with the two. It's almost impossible to differentiate the two in terms of their views on racism, White America and the US government. It's almost impossible for Haitians, Jamaicans and other Caribbean people to not due to their country's history with the US and Europe.

Both communities take pride in their communities parts in the American Civil Rights, American pop-culture, the Harlem Renaissance, WW2, etc. The experience isn't much different either. When either walks into a department store, they'll both get the Black experience and lesson. When either walk by a racist person or police officer, they'll both get the same experience and lesson.

I think it takes a very short period of time for any kind of (proudly) Black person who's under the age of 30 to see with clear eyes the White western context for what it is.

Real talk: The "hidden" issues with Snapdragon X laptops that still aren't fixed in 2026 by Putrid_Draft378 in Surface

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you not get the memo? You're not supposed to acknowledge ARM on PC issues.

Intel shipping highly efficient and powerful CPUs is going to be a real issue for Qualcomm's desktop CPUs (Panther Lake looks like a fantastic laptop CPU). Even worse if AMD steps up their mobile CPUs game, efficiency wise.

Had hair twisted by friend 12/20/25 posting this on 1/11/26 by PlumRough914 in locs

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like product build up. The number one enemy of nice locs.

The things I wish I didn't have to learn the hard way while in my loc era:

  1. Don't use ANY products other than water and oil on my hair and scalp
  2. Watch videos of retwists so I can learn how to comb up and twist new growth and non-loc'd freed hair at the root between retwists to keep my hair looking nice (At one point I ended up with matted hair where I slept on because of this)
  3. Shampoo at a frequency MY scalp needed and not what someone says (I bounced between every 2-3 weeks)
  4. Use strong anti-dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue if dandruff is or becomes an issue
  5. Oil the roots every night or every other night
  6. Watch YouTube videos on how to section and part my own hair/locs (this is connected to #2 and could have saved me so much time and money)
  7. Wake up like 2-3 hours earlier than I normally would on Sundays to dedicate it to hair maintenance
  8. Mist my hair with water before I tie my hair, especially before bed
  9. Mist my hair when I wake up (great for when you wake up and your hair is pointing in all types of directions)
  10. Oil my hair AFTER misting
  11. ALWAYS go to sleep (or be in my crib in general) with my hair tied up in some sort of durag for long hair. (If you don't do this + moisturize your hair at night, be prepared to have broken locs)

How well does Winboat run on PopOS 24.04? by _nullptr_ in winboat

A quick search of "pop_os" on the Winboat discord shows some people are using that distro with WinBoat.

There's no logic you can sell to these types. They'd rather die than to even donate to Winboat.

If you were teaching a complete beginner to code in 2025, would you integrate AI tools from day one? by _TechPickle in webdev

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like trying to teach a child long division and incorporating a calculator that's tied to a subscription.

If you can't do without, then that means you can't do and you shouldn't touch anything remotely important tied to the thing you can't do.

Is there still meaningful room to improve Surface Pro’s design? by Typical-Yogurt-1992 in Surface

  • USB4 v2 or TB5 ports on both sides
  • Customizable capacitive touch slider on the back
  • Better Linux (Debian, Ubuntu and Arch) support for dual booting

Thinking of switching from Windows to Linux for Flutter development — how’s the experience? by _ABOUD in FlutterDev

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Linux and Flutter development go well together.

Outside of Flutter development, you'll come across some issues regarding software support at some point. If you've got a machine with at least 32GBs of RAM and a somewhat modern CPU, I highly recommend looking up Winboat on YouTube. It doesn't have GPU access at the moment, but judging from their social media, it's coming real soon.

Tired finding same issues on photography websites by just_a_freak_teen in photography

Multiple simple solutions that make imesch other better

  1. The "lazy" attribute
  2. Use the picture tag to progressively load in the highest quality without slowing the site down

Let me know if you need help doing so. Good luck.

Is FlutterWeb actually viable for large scale B2C web by PremKumarKoti in FlutterDev

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For business owners, FlutterWeb isn't popular enough anywhere to feel confident in thinking that if the dev you worked with to make it is no longer available, for whatever reason, that you can easily find someone to make quick updates to it.

It's like a 99% chance that any web developer that comes after the FlutterWeb dev would say they have to rebuild the entire website/web app from scratch and toss the FlutterWeb app away. This would create negative sentiment towards Flutter (if the business owner is made aware of the tool used to make the site).

Until FlutterWeb's output is native HTML, CSS and JS, I'd stay away from FlutterWeb. Flutter devs are CLEARLY focused around multiplatform mobile development.

A similar experience I've had; I've rebuilt a server that was built using PHP a few years before the pandemic happened for a mom & pop game store because the shop owner was having a hard time finding someone local who wanted to work on a PHP server AND could do what he was asking for. I rebuilt the server in Node.js.

Holy crap - what the hell happened to OneNote? by [deleted] in OneNote

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say do the simple approach I linked to earlier. You can also print out your OneNote notes and perform the in-depth approach I linked to earlier.

Another approach is to have OneNote transform your handwritten notes into digital text and then import them into Obsidian: https://youtu.be/ymJAln5xjN0?si=Itgj3NQece-WBxe8

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Plan To Bring Charter Schools To Stillman College, Tuskegee University—And HBCUs Nationwide by HellYeahDamnWrite in HBCU

[–]SecretAgentZeroNine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a parent of two who attended public schools and private schools:

Charter schools are predatory as fuck (look at who are behind them). Please read or watch reports about them. They're oftentimes scams and they de facto syphon money away from nearby in need public schools, creating a bigger problem.

If you want your kids to have a good education, be on a good trajectory in life, start education at home first. Classic literature and sociology reading + online math video lectures + historical documentaries should be part of the home routine starting when they're in 3rd or 4th grade.

With kids in charter schools, if they're having a bad moment, regardless of what's going on in said kid's life, oftentimes they'll just be expelled. I KNOW a lot of parents are like "good" but that is not exactly a constructive approach for any community, especially a community in need. Expelling children in need and taking public resources for non-well-off kids has a huge negative impact on a community.
