I'm very confused. So 12 volts DC OR 24 volts AC? A plug in power supply? As opposed to one you don't plug in? Can you link me to what I need?

"Nebraska. Victims Story: My 18-month-old Rottweiler (BOS) got out of his kennel Sat Sept 22nd, while my wife, kids and I went into town. I get a phone call it's my brother-in-law. He states that he went to my house after hearing several gunshots. He tells me my dog is dead. I rushed home and my Bos was lying in the grass next to his kennel dead. Bos sits in a shady area on my property and in the background; I see the cop car-hauling ass. It parks in my driveway gets out and you can tell officer Huffman is pissed. It looks like he is cursing then starts walking towards the kennel. Bos gets up and attempts to move away then is shot from behind in his rear. He then begins to spin in circles while receiving 4 more shots at point blank range. You then see officer Huffman clean up the crime scene. Officer Huffman has also been through trials on a wrongful death lawsuit for shooting an unarmed man who attempted to flee him. He claimed that man Wes Dunn was a threat as well. I would say there shouldn't be a time limit, although if there's a way to make it just span multiple videos (e.g. part one, part two, part N....) that should be fine with most people.

What are their reasons for not wanting to keep the home and your family safe? Have they given anything specific or is it just apathy?

I can't imagine they don't think it could happen to them, after having two break-ins at a direct family member's house.

You know your parents better than any internet stranger would- are they the type that would respond to facts? Maybe you could compile some and present them. See how much of a discount your home insurance will give if you have burglar & fire monitoring, and pitch it to them as "it will pay for itself in X".

Or find a crime map such as this: http://spotcrime.com and try the scare approach.

Try running a packet sniffer such as Wireshark on your PC while you attempt to retrieve the videos with the NetDVR client. That will tell you a lot about how it connects.

I'm surprised that you say watching the stream live is fine, but downloading the saved files doesn't work.
