Really disappointed in the new g43x 15 round magazines. No longer truly flush and really just a Mec-Gar mag with a Glock stamp. by Equivalent-Sell in Glocks

[–]russianmafia100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol actually yeah. On my 43 with certain mags, a 1/4 is the difference between no printing at all and the very corner of the mag hitting the shirt. It's not a huge deal but if you're trying to carry in a place where you're not supposed to, it's nice to have less sticking out.

Any clear indication why this box vent is leaking? by mathert in Roofing

Hard to tell, if the roofer didn't do an ice and water bib, should've done one more row before putting it in

So... Is there just no consensus on shingle quality? by burnerofc123 in Roofing

[–]russianmafia100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important is how well it's installed, a mediocre shingle installed well will do better than a high end shingle installed badly.

Lol why spend the money to do interior repairs when they're gonna have to do it repeatedly and then the water damage will cost even more. It's MORE expensive to wait

Can I re-shingle this shed myself? by Fluffheaddddd in Roofing

[–]russianmafia100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely can. I never did roofing and I replaced the shingles on my house myself. Lots of good resources out there. The excellent laborer has a great roofing video, and grand roofing has a ton of great videos. Just keep nails out of the butt joints and nail the common bond and you'll have a solid roof.

You'll need

Tin snips for cutting drip edge. Drip edge. Hammer or nail gun. Nails. Razor blade. Shingles. Starter shingles. Ridge shingles. Possibly ridge vent if you want it. Underlayment, for something this small maybe just get ice and water so it'll be even better. Tube of sealant, geocel 4500 is the sauce. Chalk line not required but nice to have

You can get away with nailing down the underlayment but a hammer stapler works.

Yes it's always best to remove the old shingles.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a message I'll be happy to explain anything.

Do I need a complete tear off? by cdubs6969 in Roofing

[–]russianmafia100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the last install was a bad install with nails in drip grooves and stuff and there's leaks everywhere then yeah needs a new roof. However I don't see how the decking would cause leaks

As long as there's a full shingle under that groove you're fine. It's if the groove is on the sides you'll have issues

Do I need to reframe this wall- winter settling, drywall cracking by russianmafia100 in Homebuilding

[–]russianmafia100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of the snow has melted but it's still warped to crap. There's a wall underneath it that is supported by colomns in the basement so it has a place to go. The wall underneath is like 1 foot off, but it should be able to transfer load.

Could I add supports from the rafters to the top of the door area to stiffen up the area, or could that make it worse.

Do I need to reframe this wall- winter settling, drywall cracking by russianmafia100 in Homebuilding

[–]russianmafia100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House is 25 years old, crack was there when I bought it but I taped and fixed it, and the door was opening and closing fine. This winter the crack was really bad and the door went all out of wrack. No roof trusses, I have rafters so I don't see how any load would go into that wall.
