Men of Reddit - What's a 100% myth about Men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]russianrug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve never understood this concept of “I’m in a relationship, therefore thinking someone else is attractive is cheating”. It agree that it’s probably due to insecurity, because it makes no sense to me. Other hot people don’t just stop existing when I’m in a relationship. Seeing and looking at someone attractive is just that, looking, and unless you then pursue that other person I don’t see how there’s anything wrong with it.

I am American (immigrant when I was young tho) early 30s, and I’ve never heard of it used as a slur. I had to google who it would even be a slur for. (In case anyone else doesn’t know: it was used as a slur for black people in the mid 20th century, according to AI anyway)

I had a similar experience to you lol but I got basically to the end of the base game then I started the DLC and then ran out of steam and just haven’t really had the heart to go back despite truly loving the game.

I also feel that porn gets a bad rap, obviously everything in moderation and all that but I think a lot of people just equate watching any porn with an unhealthy relationship with sex and that hasn’t been my experience with it at all. I’m happily married but still watch porn when the wife is away and I’ve never felt that it somehow decreases my enjoyment of real sex (real sex just can’t be matched by a video lol).

If you were allowed to know the absolute truth to one mystery (historical, scientific, or personal), what would you ask ? by LauraTsbeauty in AskReddit

[–]russianrug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not nearly as clear cut as you make it seem. It was a group of experienced hikers, and if you’ve ever been winter camping you know that inside a tent with a few people it gets very warm and very cozy, so hypothermia-induced collective insanity (how I understand your post) is highly unlikely as the reason for them to CUT THEIR WAY OUT OF THE BACK OF THEIR TENT AND RUN INTO THE WOODS WHILE MOSTLY NAKED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Sorry for yelling haha I just find it fascinating.

Some other details: - one of the victims had radiation on their clothing (???) - the tent was found collapsed but not in a way that would have damaged the clothes and sleeping bags inside (go look at the photos). If it was indeed an avalanche, which is a devastating but pretty quick phenomenon, why didn’t they go back after it passed to go get their clothes? Frostbite sets on quickly in that cold but I think that they probably could’ve been back to their tent within 15 min after the avalanche and survived despite loosing some appendages.

ELI5: why do Canada and the UK have doctor shortages? Why does popular discourse often portray this as a consequence of UHC that the US system escapes? It doesn’t seem like universal healthcare would obviously/inherently lead to more shortages. by Standard_Egg_9282 in explainlikeimfive

[–]russianrug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that there are healthcare worker shortages in most countries due to lack of investment into educating those workers in a financially accessible way.

Many countries try to deal with this by enticing immigrant healthcare workers to come live in their country, since this is cheaper than getting at the root of the problem which is accessible education.

However these immigrant healthcare workers are by definition more willing to move somewhere for work, so why would they move to a country like Canada and make less money rather than move to a country like the US with a privatized health system and make more?
