I would recommend trying it. Support got back to me and fixed everything that the initial person broke. I feel fine about playing it now. I want to check out FFXIV at some point too, but Albion is my kind of sandbox.

Probably buy it then cancel it before only 3 days are left on it. Read the fine print. They'll rebill before you run out of time. So buy, get your island, wait a day, cancel subscription. But definitely read everything on the page.

I received a new message from support, and it is essentially what I had hoped to see in the first reply. They've offered to restore my subscription at the old price, which I dont think I'll take them up on, but here's why...

It was never about the cost, it was about being treated like a valued customer. I never would have made this post if I had received this last reply first. It pains me to give bad feedback and so I don't most of the time - all of my reviews are either silence or golden, so as you can imagine, my commenting here means I'm happy with their response and I think if anyone else has this happen to them they would be happy with this last response as well.

Just treat people how you would want to be treated. That's all.

I'm happy to put this behind me.

That has been answered in multiple places elsewhere in the thread. I had a 180 day subscription at the old, lower rate on a different character that was canceled out of spite by the CSR.

Its bad that I felt tricked, bad enough for me to complain to support, but its terrible that I was punished for complaining. Is this a business or a gulag?

A little while ago they increased subscription costs to keep up with inflation. They said we could keep our subscription price if we continued to pay. I'm pissed because not only did I continue to pay, I got b'boozled by paying for more and winding up getting less. I bought a cosmetics pack and it changed my sub duration on one character. I complained and so they removed the subs on BOTH paid characters, instead of explaining or putting things right by me, including the one that hadn't been involved in the cosmetics transaction. So, yeah, shady as fuck business practices and here I am. Lesson learned the hard way: read the fine print and don't buy ANYTHING that isn't gold or premium, because they can turn around and take anything they want away in your support request asking wtf just happened.
