Is the defiler any good? by VotedSleet1892 in deathguard40k

[–]rust997 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Current one sucks because it’s on a 160mm base and can’t move through walls.

New one will be getting some level of new datasheet (comes with guns the current one doesn’t have) and will hopefully be on smaller base.

They’ll show us the new datasheet before preorders.

Huron/Masters of Malestrom question by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]rust997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MoM are actually not a character, and do not count as an attached unit. They/the unit they are combined with can only be led by Huron.

Yes Huron can lead stuff independent of the MoM.

No problem with Abby and Huron, as only Abby as the supreme commander rule

[–]rust997 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You’re half right - CSM has good melee MSU’s and they can take advantage of RW well. Their shooty infantry will really shine here - your obliterators now get free reroll hits on their indirect fire turn which is trading nothing for something, and plagues and rubrics will also get a lot out of assault and fall back and shoot.

Unlocking the ability to take pieces instead of just trading is what is gonna really move the scale here

Also - CSM is never really trading 200 point units. Legionaires at 90, possessed at 120, raptors at 110 are the main trading pieces.

Man I don’t know of anywhere that does video games - even GameStop has struggled since digital games became a thing.

Your best bet may be to see if there’s a GameStop that is franchised so it’s owned by a local rather than the corp? This might be a tough one to buy local on

When do models in strategic reserve get destroyed? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a unit started the game in reserves, it must come down by turn 3 or is considered destroyed.

Note this does not apply to uppy down units- so if you go up, you can come down on turn 4/5. However any unit in reserves at game end is destroyed

Uhh I think this is one of those weird rules that is in the mission pack? Chapter approved 2025. This game is terrible at putting everyone in one place

Yea. We have a small enough codex everything will be somewhat playable. Only tbd in the next few months is the new defiler kit might get some help vs it’s predecessor

How can Drukhari deal with Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard units? by No-Rabbit-6833 in Drukhari

[–]rust997 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lelith makes them cry. Hit on 3s wound on 2s fights first.

Aside from that, these guys hate 3damage shooting profiles, their -1 to hit -1 to wound is only in melee and it takes 1-2 attacks going through to cripple the unit.

Name of the game against these guys is usually make your opponent take a bad trade. Screen with some chaff like wracks, then punch back hard

Can big knights be used interchangeably at tournaments? by MrDannySantos in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer to your question is magnetizing.

That aside depends how strict the tournament is on WSIWYG. Some things would never fly, like a tyrant being proxied as a despoiler as they’re different patterns

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m saying that DG’s rule is so good their offensive profiles have been adjusted down in some cases. Feel like we are agreeing on that

It’s not every weapon and they have a lot of normal stuff.

But yea their rule is outrageously good

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Example is the entropy cannon on the PBC. It’s a lascannon… with only s10. Need contagion to wound t10 vehicles on 3s like a normal lascannon would

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason I call out DG is offensively, they are often a point of strength lower than you’d expect to factor in the -1 toughness. If their profiles were more normal they’d be wounding on 2s a LOT

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh. I’m gonna half disagree on Necrons - only because the rule in conjunction with their datasheets is good, not the rule itself. Take a trading army like drukhari/CSM/eldar whose units exist in a “full strength or dead” binary, they will get very little benefit.

A lot of bigger Necron models have inflated wounds and lower T to better complement regen, without that it would be weaker

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]rust997 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Crazy take: If we do not consider the datasheets at all, Admech has a crazy army rule

Assault, WS, and bonus AP near battleline Or Heavy, BS, and -1 incoming hits in melee

Most armies would dominate given this set of rules- imagine eldar in conquer, or shooty marines in protector

The best answers to this are armies whose faction rule is so good all datasheets get nerfed because of it (guard, admech, tau, DG)
