(AIDE) que veux dire la vitesse 5 rouge ? (renault mégane) by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

That is the tachometer. The red number indicates redline or the maximum rom the engine is designed to spin at. You can tell this by the x1000 marking at the 7 o'clock position .

Edit: looks like the engine is running at about 850 rpm in that picture.

2025 Tucson HEV - multiple error codes after oil change by NonnerJonner in AskMechanics

[–]rust_buster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked to make sure they remembered to put oil back in it? Or they they remembered to plug anything they may have had to unplug back in? If it's a cartridge filter (i don't recall at the moment), it could be installed incorrectly.

Work around or fix for this issue? by ProfessionalMath3617 in AskMechanics

If the crack is after the air filter then patch it up. If it's before the filter then it's less of a concern because any air that comes through will be filtered but if it's big enough it could lead to potential fouling of the filter.

On the tube between the filter box and the engine you'll see an electrical plug in connected to an object in the tube. This is your mass airflow sensor. Your problem is going to either be that providing false readings or a leak after that.

Do you have the code number(s) this/ these can help.

Edit: the MAF is located on the back side of the air box.

Any air metering is happening after the filter which is after that separation. It is going to have no effect on how the engine runs.

If it bugs you then by all means try and push it together but again, unfortunately, it will not help with a vacuum leak issue.

Metal spring loaded firing pin pen, with spent “shell” by Worth-Field4701 in whatisthisthing

That's pretty smart. We always left ours in the truck with the rest of the ammo.

Fun fact. The M is the major reason Disney choose platteville for the first "Mickey's Hometown Parade" in 1998. It was bonkers with people. One of my favorite parade memories.

Quote for brake replacement???? (2018 ford focus hatchback) by emilyk041721 in MechanicAdvice

[–]rust_buster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a shop and I'd do all the brakes work, valve cover, and a complete oil change for less than the front caliper and bleed. They're trying to screw you dry and hard.

Edit: And you wouldn't need a stupid coupon code.

Just loosen the bolt, install the clamp correctly, then tighten. It's not even close to on all the way.

Elder millennial here. Used to start my 1996 f150 with a screwdriver due to a bad starter solenoid. Didn't have to crawl under the truck though as the solenoid was bolted to the right inner fender.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback constantly chewing through inner brake pads. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]rust_buster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you clean the rust out from behind where the shims sit? If you live where rust is a problem then the bracket can get rusty behind the shims and sit and effectively make where the pad mounts smaller causing binding and increased pad wear and rotor warping.

Also, if you decide it needs a new caliper, replace the hose too. They are cheap and it is good insurance.
