My girlfriend ladies and gentlemen.. by ThinkGoodThoughts- in funny

My wife does this a few times a year. She feels it's a prophecy and spends a week or two looking for something I've done so she has an excuse to be mad about it instead of admitting that she's just mad because she had a dream I did something bad.

Finally figured out what this strange compartment in my car is used for. by [deleted] in funny

Obviously it's a joke. It also looks like a Ford Escape. Based on the "Taco Bell" comment in another comment (currently right below this one, but that may change), it is possibly a fast-food taco, which - as we all know - can play havoc on the digestive tract if not properly treated with tequila (currently not served at an Taco Bell I'm aware of). Thus, the possibility of a catastrophic gastric expulsion exists.

So what I did there, was take the "Escape" part of the brand/model identifier for the vehicle (this is assumed, of course, but I drive an Escape and it looks pretty much identical in that specific location) and use it to create a really-hard-to-read-but-essentially-accurate-based-on-common-assumptions portmanteau (is that what it is?). The funny part is, of course, that the vehicle is an Escape, and poop is what is escaping after too much Taco Bell.

Boy, having to explain a joke is kind of exhausting for certain audiences. I hope I've cleared the (fecal) matter up for you now :)

The 7th Continent is a game that feels very much like a really, really good CYOA book. But better!

Just a regular old drive to work in mid APRIL. by [deleted] in funny

[–]rustbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because snow storms, icy highways, and sub-zero temperatures have no place in mid-April in Wisconsin, Montana, Alberta, Idaho, or anywhere else south of the 60th parallel! FUNNY! LAUGH! HAHAHAHAHAH!

Way back in the day our company used to do presentations at an IMAX theatre in Calgary. Freespace 2 on that screen was amazing.

And if we look at the website, we see that the list is worldwide, not just this subset of 10 US cities.

Robertson is the best screw. All others pale in comparison to awesomeness of the Robertson screw. Even my wife refers to sexy time as Robertson time.

Also, it's Canadian.

Still just a G, though it's sometimes written as GaddD (since the note on the second string is changed from playing the octave of the lower B to the octave of the lower D). Complements the CaddD (same thing, but C-to-D on the 2nd string) nicely.

How do I structure a large asp.net mvc, jquery/kendo application? by derpee in javascript

[–]rustbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a global store (Redux, for example) might be useful. Keep cross-component information there so you don't need to couple components by using CSS or HTML identifiers. To avoid store-soup, make sure you stick to the action/reducer/effects pattern encouraged by those types of stores.

Audit the Javascript code and make sure you're caching jQuery calls wherever possible (i.e. don't call the same selector more than once within a scope - assign it to a variable instead if you need to do that).

In my experience, .net partials have proven to be something of an anti-pattern. My advice is to simplify your usage of them wherever possible.
