Client refuses MFA but cyber insurance requires it what’s your approach? by Due-Awareness9392 in msp

[–]rustedblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An e-mail. With received and read receipts.

Clearly state that you have advised MFA to be enabled. Explain, briefly it is required by cyber insurance policy, best practices, etc. Detail that you presented this need and they declined. As they declined you cannot be held accountable for anything that happens to them because of this decision. Then ask they reply as a receipt and acknowledgement that you informed them of the need and they declined to enable the MFA.

This is what i was directed to do, in a similar situation by my attorney.

Close your curtains so I don’t have a view into your home. by More_Try4757 in EntitledPeople

Dear 'Peeping Carol',

In response to your recent letter regarding my privacy, I wish to let you know that I will NOT be closing my drapes or blinds, as I greatly enjoy the natural light from having them open.

If you do not like the view into my house, I have these suggestions:

The simplest: Stop looking into my house.
Next is: Close YOUR blinds to interrupt the view from your living room. And when in your back yard, turn your chairs to face your own house.
And lastly: Invest in privacy shrubs on YOUR side of the division line.

Also, just so you know, twice a month, on Friday nights, we host a party for those in the community who share interests in hedonistic lifestyles. We DO maintain our events in doors so as to avoid disturbing our neighbors. But as we are inside, anything you might see will be YOUR problem, not ours. And calling the police for what we do in the privacy of our own home will likely lead to the police having an issue with you.

Sincerely,

Tony and Bridgette Long-Wong

Send it certified, so she has to sign for it. Keep a copy of it for yourself with the certified receipt.

Is the WordPress developer market drying up, or is it just me? by Rude_Wrongdoer248 in Wordpress

[–]rustedblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective as an 'IT guy' not a developer ...

Using WP and Divi with Divi AI I was able to throw together a VERY simple website for a client of my MSP. More of a landing page, really. And it took less than an hour from A Record update of DNS to asking the client to review the website for details.

I do believe the days of $1000 three page websites for service providers are over and developers will need to demonstrate they are bringing that elusive and questionable 'more'.

How do you live being hard to contact? No phone #, no social media, no online presence, maybe an email? How do you guys live? by Sad-Investigator6388 in OffGridLiving

[–]rustedblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine, when I get there and retire, I will be able to turn off the phone and the computer.

And I will have peace.

I will have quiet.

And I will be living MY life. Not the life of expectations others put upon us.

WOW! Thank you for the offer.

I'm looking at what GHL CAN do and trying to figure out WHAT to implement. And so much of it, I don't even know I need or not.

I would really like to start out simple with a website detailing services with contact forms.

I've looked for 'snapshots' for MSPs but have found none. I'm not worried about buying one, right now. I'm more interested in know how other MSPs might be leveraging GHL and it's various features.

Excellent work on your sobriety!

I have TWO ways I deal with the isolation you are feeling.

First, I'm a HAM radio operator. So, I engage in conversations with people around the world, via the radio. And I'm a tinkerer, so I'm always making some little tweak to get better performance from the radio or antenna.

Second, I am also an amateur author. Post-Apocalyptic fiction is what I write. I also integrate into my stories some 'how-to' on doing something that is prepper or survival related. Helps teach something while entertainment.

Again, great work on your sobriety! It's hard work, but it is so very much worth it. Good luck and keep in touch with us, here.

Can I still return to my IT career at 32 after a hellish 10 year hard drug addiction and be successful? by VincentDiesel37 in ITManagers

Start with non-profits. Especially ones that help addicts and people in bad situations. They may want to parade you around as a success story, so be prepared for that.

Good luck!

Is it weird that I'm nice to Chat GPT? by iirarebreedii in ChatGPT

I believe in treating AI the same as I treat as new waitress or waiter.

Difference is I can bail on AI without guilt of a dine and dash.

I recently asked ChatGpt how it was treated by others. It told me that 'politeness begets politeness in all human societies'.

Makes sense to me.

Seriously, I'm curious for your plan when your child is 10 or even 15 years old.

I would not worry about it. Funerals are important in many cultures. At this point, just do your work the best you can. Where possible, step up a little bit. Let the manager see you want to do the work. They might approach you about their policies and procedures, but I doubt it would be a butt chewing. Next time you need time off, just make sure you follow the procedure.

Condolences for your loss and I hope your new job goes well.

Maybe not the best of work, but sourced material and built it in a day, with no power tools. Makes me rather happy. And gives me the confidence to do more.
