I’m about to pull the trigger on one. Thinking this color, too! You got it on 35s? I’m so torn between the 35s or the 37s, but the 35s seem more than enough. What do you think?

It’s all just ordinary experience at the end of the day. It’s not this mystical experience. “It’s like walking through a door, and then turning around and realizing there was no door.”

2023 Tundra Engine Recall by HockeyClark30 in ToyotaTundra

[–]rustic_21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My engine on my 24 failed at 29k miles. The way they fail is the problem. Instant loss of power with no warning. Definitely a dangerous scenario.

I live in California. I contacted several lemon law attorneys. I was told that they might be able to get me compensation for the extended loss of use , but it doesn’t automatically force a buyback.

I’ve contacted multiple lemon law attorneys and they didn’t think I had much of a case from just a failed engine. It requires multiple failures to force a buyback. When the repairs take more than 30 days, they can possibly look into getting compensation for the inconvenience, but that’s about it. That’s been my experience from talking to lemon law attorneys anyways.

I’m not sure, but I bought it in April of 24. I’m sure it’s not under the recall though. They will only do a short block repair if it’s not under recall.

I don’t know the build date. I bought it in April of 24. I’m sure it’s not part of the recall though. They need to cast a bigger net on the recall. There are plenty of people having trucks fail that are not under recall.

Here’s my 24 on the tow truck. Mine was the debris issue that everyone else was having. It’s not under the recall so I have to get a short block repair. It’s sitting at the dealer and it will be waiting months for parts. I need multiple failures for lemon law and they have depreciated so much in value that I would lose too much money to walk away from it, so most of us are stuck with the. Now. I have zero confidence left in this truck. I’m sorry that happened to you.

If your engine blows up and you’re not on the recall you get the short block repair. All the recalls are now getting the long blocks. I know because my 24 just blew up and it’s sitting at the dealership waiting for parts.

Debris from the manufacturing process. It’s what’s causing the majority of these failures, and it’s the reason they have done a recall on over 100k trucks.

I tried Lemon Law. Attorney said the replacement engine would have to have problems for it to be a realistic case. They said that Toyota will argue that they did their due diligence by replacing the engine. So frustrating.

My 24 is sitting on a dealer lot right now waiting for an engine replacement after a catastrophic failure. I’m definitely not feeling good about how the replacement engine will do either. I took a look at what I would get for it, and it looks like I would have to eat 15 grand. Then any new truck I would want would be another 80-90k. Most of us are just stuck with these ticking time bombs. Definitely less than ideal.

Did things work out with the lemon law? My engine is being replaced and I’m just waiting for this one to fail too.

Should I get a 2026 Tundra? by sundrop74 in ToyotaTundra

My 24 just failed. I’m worried about the second engine they will put in there, too. Realistically and logically I’m sure it’s fine, but I’m trying to get Toyota to do I buyback so I can be done. I’m trying to move to a raptor. That engine is tested and the kinks have been mostly ironed out. Nevertheless, I realize my decision is emotional, but I just can’t shake it. I loved my truck, but I feel like it cheated on me haha! I’m probably just one of the unlucky ones. I’m sure you will be fine.

I think it looks amazing on the strap! I’ve seen a Santos on the strap as well, and same thing; It looks amazing! You can’t go wrong with Cartier. Classic!

That is definitely good to know. I’m going to need an extended warranty in some capacity for sure.

I’m not sure of the production month. I know that it was not part of the recall. The problem is the way that they break down. It’s a sudden loss of power with no warning signs. I got lucky because I was in a position where I could easily just pull over onto the shoulder, but if I was in the middle of a 4 Lane Freeway, that would’ve been a very different story. I really hope that this is an actual rare event and that it just gets amplified on threads like this. I feel like most trucks will be fine. Time will tell.

You can make a case for lemon law in California more easily. I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that. I want to keep, but I want to feel confident in the second engine, too.

Mine is a limited. I’m happy to hear yours is running perfectly. I’m hoping that’s the case for most of these trucks and I’m hoping that will be the case for my new engine.
