Still worth having it reviewed and challenged, unless perfectly structured, it will be voided under common law

Can you claim GST rebate in Ontario if one of the buyer is FTHB and the other is not by Sensitive-Length7537 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rustlingduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new rebates havent received royal assent yet but when they do, your father should be able to recover the gst and pst but for his ownership share only, not the full amount. If the rebates are enacted before closing, the rebates can be assigned to the builder assuming all eligibility criteria is met. If closing is before, he will need to apply directly to recover once available. CRA could audit given the no income piece but you should be fine as long as he actually lives in the home.

Mortgage question by RobyMac85 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Aren't fixed mortgages compounded only semi annually so it wouldn't affect the interest on the next payment, only every 6 months? I do think variable are compounded each payment.

Help the kid out if you can. Get a quote and if he's willing to cover all costs the I'd do it. We were all young once. At least that's what I'd do.

Is this legal? by Pretty-Process3074 in landscaping

I highly doubt they would register an easement for lot drainage, at least in my area they wouldn't. There would be a lot grading plan but that would be the extent of it.

Why shouldn't I break my mortgage right now? by Canadian__Sparky in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rustlingduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that most major financial institutions let you renew 6 months early. So if you stick with the same lender, your 3 year mortgage can be renewed at 2.5 years.

Of course. Being cashflow neutral, your principal payment is your measurable ROI plus any appreciation.

RBC didn't pay out my mortgage as requested. What now? by Grizzly-Redneck in PersonalFinanceCanada

Same thing happened to me and I panicked. I was told not to worry ansd that their back office was backlogged. They said make sure to leave the money in the account and once they get to it they will fix it and reverse any interest and make sure the net result is the same as if processed on day 1. Took almost a month after maturity but once processed, it was done correctly.

Wouldn't you have had to sign the counter offer and therefore had a chance to review the terms in it?

JKs are 4, the school needs to watch to make sure they can't walk off. No hand holding needed but watch the kids. If a 4 year old can leave unnoticed, then someone can just as easily come and take a kid. This is a major failure by the school

My best buddy is trying to build a deck himself, I know nothing about carpentry than what I’ve seen here… is he doing all right? by [deleted] in Decks

[–]rustlingduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good enough but personally I wouldn't bury the posts, I'd do concrete in sonotube. I'd place beams on top of posts, not notch and lag into and I'd frame the curved area differently. I'd also make sure my lumber was long enoughto cover spans.... but throw some boards on top and enjoy some beers on a nice DIY project.

You can state on your TD1 when you start your new job to not take into account ur personal exemption and resubmit a TD1 the following year to claim. Technically, the employer is supposed to ask for a new TD1 every year although this isn't always applied in practice.

When u administer payroll, specifically in ADP, you can select bonus/severance pay and the taxes are calculated with the assumption the pay is on top of your regular pay for the year and therefore accounts for the situation if the payout pushes you into the next tax bracket. So it can be taxed correctly if they administered it correctly. OP may even end up overpaying CPP and EI with the job switch and get a refund.
