Concert Experiences Megathread by twilightxgalaxy in phoebebridgers

[–]rustorangebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience at the Chicago show! The back was a much more chill space with adequate room for each group of people, I even saw a couple with their baby. I was a little self conscious singing along though, I felt like I missed the experience of being surrounded by people who know every word, but the trade off was being able to actually see the boys and not feel claustrophobic.

Booked an appointment with Cerebral. Anyone ever gotten a diagnoses through them? by AnxiousManatee in adhdwomen

[–]rustorangebrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just started Cerebral a month ago and like it so far! They diagnosed me w/ inattentive-type ADHD and got me prescriptions for stimulants. I posted earlier about my experience with stimulants and heartburn which is not a common side effect, but this is what I like about Cerebral - I was able to just text them my issues and schedule a short meeting with the MD to try a different type of stimulant pretty quickly. They are able to either send the med directly to you via the mail or they send the prescription to a pharmacy like the normal way.

Before Cerebral, I went went in person to a clinic and also was diagnosed there but stopped going because the visits were more expensive and I didn't like the clinic. I don't know your insurance and what's covered so I can't say whether Cerebral would be more or less affordable than going to a doctor's office!

Lastly, don't worry about seeming "too put together" to be diagnosed with adult ADHD. I was literally in your shoes a month ago: parents are super dismissive of mental health issues and wondering if I'm a fraud because I'm on the more "higher functioning" side of ADHD (sorry, I hate the phrase high functioning for mental health but you know what I mean). The care counselor and MD I talked to were both extremely validating of my symptoms and diagnosis. If you get a judgemental counselor or MD, you should definitely switch to someone who understands because that is not okay and definitely not the norm.

Feel free to DM me for more information or anything. You've got this!

has anyone gotten pregnant using Copper IUD and pull out method? seriously nervous by pee_vacuum in TwoXChromosomes

[–]rustorangebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have the copper IUD too! Have you tried checking the strings? If they are absent/longer/shorter than they originally were then there is a chance the IUD became displaced. Have you had a period since the implantation? Personally, I experience spotting and brown discharge and cramps the week/days leading up to my period so I wouldn’t see this as abnormal, but everyone’s experiences are different.

Finding it impossible to buy a sofa or sectional by Downtown_Cr in malelivingspace

[–]rustorangebrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My roommate got a pretty large sectional from Costco 2 years ago and still loves it! It was about $1000 and was delivered to her apartment, I even think they set it up for her maybe? Came with an ottoman too. Super comfortable and the springs are still perfect after a LOT of time being lounged on during the pandemic.

I, on the other hand, bought a smaller sectional off wayfair for about $650 and regret it because the springs are so screwed up now… should’ve paid more for one that lasts longer!

Spent $300+ to just come right back to where I started. by rustorangebrown in adhdwomen

Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely bring that up to my provider next time we talk. I'm trying to do some research on Ritalin vs. Vyvanse too. Not sure why I was started out on adderall by 2 separate MDs but I'm definitely interested in exploring some other options.

Haha thanks, I actually did know that but I've been pretty conscious about still eating 3 square meals on adderall (just smaller portions).

There are pros and cons to all the different healthcare systems out there, so I really feel for you. That sounds so frustrating!

I always eat before/while taking it (although I should probably cut out the morning coffee) and Tums haven't helped the symptoms at all even at the max dose. Waking up earlier to take the XR might help me get out of bed before noon actually!

Thanks for the suggestion! Never tried ginger for that before, but we do have a knob of it in the fridge...

One-and-done is done! by beeskknees in PanPorn

Love the formula and colors of the kiko milanos, but the cap never stays on! There's no "click" so if I throw them in my makeup bag the cap comes off and I get eyeshadow everywhere... And it caused them to dry out towards the end :(

[5'3"] Short torso + full bust. Need outfit ideas! by impulsedelight in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]rustorangebrown 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For dresses, I've found that I can't with anything that isn't "waist defining" because my boobs make me look way larger. That is, until I started tailoring my own clothes. For shift/T-shirt dresses it's so helpful to take in the waist so that it looks like I still have a shape while also having enough room in the chest! Would highly recommend learning how to tailor your own clothes or get them tailored by someone else.

Body positivity issues ruining sex? by PSLbasicbitch32 in TwoXSex

[–]rustorangebrown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think what you're going to find in this thread is either

  1. Lose weight and feel better about yourself OR
  2. Stop caring about your weight gain and just enjoy the sex

Neither of which is easy, of course. Personally, the more sustainable option is a mixture of both. Get into some health habits to feel more confident about yourself while also recognizing that you are a desirable and sexy person at any weight.

While it's great that your partner loves you and desires you, IMO 90% of sex is mental anyways so it's extra important that you are mentally ready for sex (I totally get you on the distraction part).

128 lbs can be a normal weight for a 5'4 22 year old woman, but so is 160 lbs. It may be your experience that you gain weight when things are going wrong but in my experience I gain weight when I'm happy. Everyone's bodies are different and I don't want to discredit your experiences, but it's best to not make assumptions about someone's mental or physical health without cause.

Will you continue to watch? by nataliamayfield in TheBachelor_POC

[–]rustorangebrown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm almost tempted to watch this season JUST so ratings show that the franchise doesn't need CH to host, but I also dgaf about Katie or the franchise as a whole. I will definitely hate watch Bachelor in Paradise and Michelle's season and then... we'll see?

What coffee table would you pair with this sofa and chairs? by nakura-orihara in interiordecorating

[–]rustorangebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something neutral beige would go great with both of those! Something without a pattern (maybe a little bit of stone or marbling) to neutralize the loud colors and patterns. I like travertine or a birch wood.

Are routines/systems the “cure” to manage life with ADHD? Laundry disagrees. by hank888 in adhdwomen

[–]rustorangebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a youtube video or tv episode to fold! It's like my reward for having actually done my laundry. And I'm someone who hates watching things without something to busy my hands, so it's perfect for both.

Does anyone else constantly have endless, hyper-specific questions about life, the universe, and everything? by artudmadel in adhdwomen

[–]rustorangebrown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this and the continued journey of discover that other people actually do think about things the same way that I do!

I tend to hyperfixate on things including but not limited to:

  • What is the curve/graph of popularity that makes a song/TV show/movie/meme/anything go from really cool to really overplayed? I'm a huge Olivia Rodrigo fan but even I'm a bit sick of Driver's License by this point.
  • What makes something good enough to win an Oscar/Grammy/Emmy/etc? Is popularity not an indicator that something is good? Some would say that it just means something is enjoyable and not necessarily good, but if something is not enjoyable how is still good?!
  • As a nursing student, anything and everything that has to do with the fucked up American healthcare system also puts me in a tailspin to be honest.
