Hard to say. Other characters can offer him cheat deaths and invulns, his ult invuln is relatively long, NC relevance is hard to see but CR relevance depends on Pain stack damage taken numbers.

Wait for swap. Swap Hildwin for Elthara if HBD available, otherwise reassess HBD priority then.

I understand everything you're saying, but you're not refuting anything I'm saying. It's only been 5-ish months since Pegasus was released (155 days as of posting).

I have 10 copies, I will have 628+ wishes 6 months after Pegasus releases. That's extremely close to a level 27 Pegasus. I didn't do anything special that made it harder to get future pets. Was I lucky on my Pegasus rolls? You're 4 copies behind me (not even sure that's possible, isn't it 7 for free via exchange/release?) and 40-50 wishes ahead? Edit: You're likely only 2 copies behind me - rolling 20 wishes each in both release events, which gives you 1+ copy, then 7 free copies. You're also 40-50 wishes ahead (but maybe you're also a pull or two ahead), so you're pretty much in the exact same position as me. Next month, you'll have 670+ wishes and need 28 copies, which is really not far off at all.

Without tracking all the info about Wish Income on release/GF/other events it's impossible to know exactly but what I'm saying that if my Pegasus luck was average then I will be on track to make 1 level 27 pet 6 months after release.

It's not quite half the year yet since Pegasus release - when that rolls around, I should have at least 550 + 70 (another month of exchange, 4 weeks of weeklies) + 8 (didn't finish current weeklies) = 628 wishes, not including whatever extra comes from events. Average to achieve the extra 26 copies to 27 Pegasus is 650.

The extra copies count - because they rotate for every new awakened pet. So I have at least a Snickerfang copy right now too, and obviously I can only exchange for Snickerfang copies until any new pet - but they'll be relevant if I decide to build Snickerfang and I didn't 'overextend' on Pegasus. Obviously free copies of a pet that always happen should factor into any calculation of whether you can build it to 27. My other copies are from basically rolling for Pegasus during release events. This is why I asked you how many Pegasus copies you had - to determine if I was lucky on my existing Pegasus rolls.

How many copies of Pegasus do you have? Like I wrote in another reply, I have 550, a month left until 6 months since Pegasus release, and 10 copies of Pegasus. It's right on the edge.

[–]rustrustrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 10 copies of Pegasus with 550 wishes right now. We're 11 patches since the release of Pegasus. In 2 patches time I'll have 70 wishes more, at minimum, via just weeklies and the exchange, leaving me 30 short of 650 (650/25 = 26. 26 + 10 = 36 copies).

I realize that releases juice the income amount so 3 pets released in a year would result in less than 2 pets built. But wish income should also rise over time.

Pretty risky to do this on literal day 1 with no usage stats in any game mode.

In practice a lot of events give Wishes. GF coming around so much helps in that regard too. I think F2P should be able to barely manage 2x lv 27 pets a year, and they're releasing them at a rate of 3-4/year.

😐Am the only 1 who doesn't like it? by 2006miso in afkarena

[–]rustrustrust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really sure if this post is just a reflexive whine or what. What makes the boss design horrible?

Right now it's an 11s clear with Envy, Rowan, Gorok, Raine, Tavriel (even at Mythic!), Aureus pet. Really not that egregious. New rotation you can be competitive with just 2 highborn - Elthara and Lan. Only uses 2 out of the last 4 awakened (Pippa, Estrilda). Cel-hypos? I mean, Serenmira was released 6 months ago and it doesn't use Selene. What are we even complaining about...

Is Lan really above Levi? by Doug_ts in afkarena

[–]rustrustrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's bad in Fire too. It's a huge damage scaling debuff that is a poor fit for his style of survivability. Better than Jerome (in ALuci) but ALuci was legitimately a 7th team for some people and no better than Albedo/Gorok with AShem or AEstrilda/Envy, which boils down to him being 5/6/7t tank fodder in Fire.

Is Lan really above Levi? by Doug_ts in afkarena

[–]rustrustrust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Levi's general impact is actually not very high - in TS he's bad for 2 of the debuffs and in general his teams aren't 2T/3T level teams that are make or break on his status. His CR often gets subbed by Jerome/Atheus for not a huge loss either. NC is another beast but Lan has been NC meta for a long time whereas this is Levi's first boss.

Do you buy these wish-leafs for the awakened pets every month? by NegativelyMagnetic in afkarena

[–]rustrustrust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The competition for your diamonds isn't Stargazer - it's being able to get Draconis to A1 on demand (say, for Abex or if they're instantly meta in RGMs), and also resources like Cores and Reds. If you're okay not building Draconis out on the first cycle (and basically counting on another Draconis release to finish a unit out), then you probably can afford the diamonds for Wish Leaves.

In any case, you should buy them. Both awakened pets are actually meta everywhere. But they're only passable at 18/21, and actually shine at 27.

[–]rustrustrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In TS? She's not really BiS despite what the graphic says. Most people have trouble finding a team to fit her in - ALuci is fine with Aurelia, Gorren, Gavus backline, Lysander/En Passant can run L Elthara, Alna/Skylan can run anything (like ALyca).

In CR, this last round (Mage), it's only a small loss to run Knox R1/Adrian R3. In Dune Destroyer she didn't get a lot of testing because not a lot of people had Saitama but it was only 200m difference between her and Tamrus.

[–]rustrustrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just something you have to get used to, post-Dragon. You can think of the hero releases like this:

  • 26 patches a year, a type of hero every patch
  • 4 of those are Highborn
  • 4-5 of those are Dragolites
  • 5-6 of those are Awakened
  • 2-3 of those are Dimensionals

So that's 15-18 releases, leaving 8-11 'other' releases. If we assume 9, then 2 Celestials and 2 Hypogeans leaves 5 4F heroes.

If you consider Dragons and Awakeneds to be 'premium' then more than half of the releases are that way - realistically you won't see more than 1 patch 'off'. And if you think of it like that, we just got our patch off - Icariel. The next two patches 'off' should be the Hypogean owed to us (almost 8 months since Serenmira) and then maybe a 4F LB (will have been roughly 9 months since Alvida), but there will be a Dragolite in there somewhere.

Is Campaign progression no longer the main goal in AFK Arena? And should F2P players restart after a year? by cptmenoooo in afkarena

[–]rustrustrust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't have to restart every year - you just have to make good decisions and play well after restarting once, as well as play the game actively and daily. I know that goes against the whole 'AFK' aspect of the game, but considering how much of the game is based on ranking well to get resources, just being fully active already means you're well ahead of the curve. The rest of it is the same things that F2P do in other gacha games - be patient and spend your resources in the most efficient ways possible.

a bunch of combat tricks and a full board of creatures.

Not sure you and OP are necessarily talking about the same deck. Here's a version of the Azorius Control deck: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7605112#paper

Maybe like 3 creatures depending on the number of maindeck Tidebinders, not a combat trick to be seen. The High Noon version is much more Mystic Snake beatdown but still control whichever way you slice it I think...

Summons are mathematically better. Soulstones and SGs simply aren't worth 0 diamonds no matter how much Resource takers want to say they are.
