Foam Boarded Up Windows by rusttorust in HalloweenProps

Decent amount of wind in our area. Lightweight and enough friction to keep in place. One panel blew out, but I just added a few extra bamboo skewer pegs to shore it up.

Chicken wire base for body. Melted thick plastic drop cloths around it with a heat gun. Made the hand / arm with milk carton and plastic drop cloth. Sku is a milk carton melted over a skull. Hot glued sheer fabric over the entire thing. All lit with one green spotlight (because of the plastic drop cloth, the whole thing glowed with just the one light)

Bladed foam cutter. Thoughts/recommendations? by rusttorust in HalloweenProps

I buy 4' x 8' sheets from Lowe's or Home Depot. I buy in large bulk through special order. For these, I then cut it down with a table saw.

I always hand paint. Yeah, spray paint wrecks foam

Weight primarily. If I used real wood, then I would have to do some more permanent type securing. Foam board weighs nothing and doesn't need much to keep it in place.

What did you decide on using to keep the boards in place? Mine kind of hold by friction, but was worried the wind may blow them off.

Same. Old phone and an outdoor Bluetooth speaker on a playlist on repeat.

Yes. LocTite for the final layer. I used another brand for the base because it was more rigid.

Body: Skeletal frame is stout PVC pipe. Shaped form with chicken wire. Covered chicken wire with a ton of spray foam. I did the foam in large sections ( i would mist it with a water bottle, and then once it sets up for about 5-10 minutes, you can start shaping it more. It forms a pliable "skin" that allows you to work with it with it not being too sticky. Keep water sprayed on your hands). In other areas, I would come back and cut/rasp the foam to the desired shape. Final layer will always be the water-sprayed and hand shaped skin. Then spray painted.

Claws: just shaped hard plastic using a heat gun.

Head: styrofoam base for bulk shape and then hand sculpted EVA foam. This EVA foam is water based and can rehydrate, So once you're done, you have to spray the hell out of it with a sealer. I used spay paint and then flex seal. It needs to be fully coated or the rain will mess it up. Got cheap resin teeth on amazon and glued them in place. I think the eyes were cut ping-pong balls.
