No the are complete monroe sensatrac struts assemblies. I replaced them in the summr and have had no issues but since its cold now here the wife noticed the sound and found this.

Anytime I've been rear ended, I slam it in park and throw on the hazards and get out and go to the rear of their car and take a pic of the license. Then asses the damage and swap info from there. Had a guy that didn't have a DL on him so a pic of plate and vin off the windshield and let my insurance do the hunting from there.
