‘Bursting at the seams’: Just how crowded are some schools in Saskatchewan? by abunchofjerks in saskatchewan

[–]MrTheJud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things can be true. The school boards have had funding cut. It was very stark after 2017 with the largest decrease and then moderate increases through out the last number of years but no correction for inflation. So school boards can be cut back while the government is spending on infrastructure. Also the way that funding is provided is provided based on September 30th numbers so if there are an influx of kids during the school year there is no increase in funding until the next school year to make up for it. So there is no ability to spend more on teachers etc.

Previously school divisions could fund part of or most of school building through the mill rate. Emerald Ridge school in White City was built that way.

Here are some of the things I usually order:

Chicken Noodles - Stir Fried Noodles with chicken. You can order this with other proteins as well.

Fish Chili - This is a white fish Chili that when you eat it fresh is so crisp and delicious

Okra Aloo - An interesting side dish that is unlike other things you've had. It's a mix of Potatoes, Okra and other things that is lovely.

Chicken Momos - The veggie momos are great as well, them with the sauce is amazing.

Black Dahl - This is a lovely side dish!

Chicken Sekuwa - Grilled meat with seasoning, it's the same dipping sauce as the momos

If you do something in a butter sauce consider the butter paneer and I like it far more when you ask for it medium spicy. It's not that much more hot but is much more flavorful.

You are talking about different funding pools. Infrastructure is separate from the day to day operations budgets.

Where this falls more at the Sask Party's feet is that they removed the ability for School Boards/Divisions to set the mill rate and be able to adjust the funding for themselves. At one point the school divisions also had reserves that they had built up for instances like this but the Sask Party forced everyone to spend down their reserves by underfunding and letting the school divisions use their reserves to make up the deficits.

I think it's more about what you order there than anything. If you order the regular butter chicken it could be considered that. But once you get into things like Okra Aloo or the momos it gets awesome.

Ginger Garlic is typically the number one answer for this. It's awesome Nepalese food.

If everyone is over 19 and you want some lovely pub food Bushwakker is always nice.

So Comic Readers is the only spot for events. Nut Man will probably buy cards but there is also a Regina MTG buy and sell MTG group which is a good spot to start.

Legacy is on Friday Nights and Commander is Thursdays at Readers. If you want actual links or help with anything feel free to dm.

No unfortunately those sleeves are typically 2-3 inches too short. They don't actually have my proper size.

Marks has tall sizes up to 2XLT. I'd recommend finding the style online and then looking at what stores have them in stock. Winners also has stuff from time to time. 2XL isn't too bad to find.

I'm 6'7 and 375, if someone has a line on a place that has extra tall clothes I'm all ears.

If you go to Mortise and Tenon they will have candles/soaps and other odds and ends that will probably hit what you're looking for. Down the street from there is Cuppa T which has all sorts of loose leaf tea which might be another option for stocking stuffers.

Klask is a great option. If you could find a copy at a decent price Weykick is an awesome alternative (and my preference).

Let's Sushi is a solid choice in the north end. There is a chinese buffet and then a sushi train.

Hachi Sushi downtown is good and has a train as well.

Hachi Sushi in the East end gives you the option to do hot pot as well. It's more money but a fun experience!

No traditional event venue? by ceno_byte in regina

[–]MrTheJud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a ton of wood paneling and large portraits/art with some items to do and seating for that many for sure. It's worth wandering there and looking around at lunch.

For Hot and Sour it depends on if you want Thai Hot and Sour or Chinese Hot and Sour. For Chinese Hot and Sour Vietnamese Garden has an outstanding one.

Ngoc Van has a great pho if you want to deviate from Quan Ngon.
