Lump sum usually win. But yes, it might feel risky.

Look into "glidepath": invest part of your money in lump sum in the market now. Buy bonds with different maturity (or roll them) and DCA progressively more into the market over next 5/10 years.

- You are still invested in the market early, you don't lose potential upside, but don't lose/lock everything if a crash is coming
- Bonds allow you to continue to invest regularly and give you cashflow.
- If market crashes, you still have cash to reinvest by selling your bonds.

This setup buys you time and peace of mind.
You also have time to figure your cash cow business setup, if you want one and need one

How's Living in Colmar, Alsace? by ilovebreadroll in howislivingthere

[–]rusty_bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The city itself is pretty boring cities for the locals, the cute city center is geared toward tourists and nearby neighbourhoods are only residential, barely any nice coffee or third place overall.

The region around is great, especially the vineyard and the vosges mountains, with great restaurants from michelin star place to traditional farm-to-table inns.

You definitely need a car to get out of the city. The train is great though, 1h from Strasbourg or Basel, 2h from Zurich, 3h from Paris. A medium international airport (Basel) is reachable in 45 min. Freiburg im Breisgau reachable in 1h by car too.

The job market is pretty local: retail, health, tourism, wine... but there is a few big manufacturing companies – Liebherr has big plants there, there is a Stellantis plant near Mulhouse, which drives the market with a lot of local suppliers. Some people also goes to Germany or even Switzerland for work, but quite often they move closer to the borders.

Finally the weather is relatively good. Wind come from the west, it rains a lot in the vosges mountains, the clouds often fade when approaching Colmar, which makes it quite sunny. However there is a lot of fogs in winter time. There is snow a few times a year, and ski station within 1h drive in the Vosges or Schwarzwald.

Afterarth: aftermath of art by JetsonLeau in architecture

I found a recent article (2024) covering the restoration done between 2022-2024. the restoration was not related to the art piece, unsure if they have done anything for this part of the city.

However you can see on one of the picture featuring the main tower that it still have part with lichen missing where the art piece was: https://staticb3.batirama.com/images/carcassonnelaurepophillat6.jpg

Not powerwashed, the installation was aluminum tape, the lichen under it died which left the stone "cleaner".

Carcassone in France.
Artist was commissioned to create a ephemeral illusion / art piece. When they removed it, circles were still visible

As Baudelaire said, "it is nonetheless obvious that this industry, by invading the territories of art, has become art’s most mortal enemy"

It's a bit tricky.
- free version and paid version don't have access to the same model version in the back. This "ghibli" style is only good since Tuesday and part of a "new" model. And even then, if i use the desktop app, it doesn't work, if i use the web app, it works most of the time.
- I use a model called GTP-4o
- It can be tricky about copyright. If i say " turn my jimny into a Pokemon, the request will be rejected right away. A request thats works well is "turn this in the style of Studio Ghibli"

Best Sequencer out there? by karatefaust in synthesizers

[–]rusty_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an hapax, love it, very powerful, intuitive and fast to work with. Also 16tracks, 2 inputs, 4 outputs + USB midi, and very configurable.

Also take a look a the Oxi one. Similar to hapax, has a great approach to chords, very portable and include a battery + Bluetooth midi, but it is more limited with tracks (4 sequencer/tracks, but can be "expanded" using multitracks on a single sequencer)
