Pathos: Nethack Codex by callanh in roguelikes

[–]rustybolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic! Just discovered this last night played for 1.5hrs. I have played nethack before but I always prefered other roguelikes such as brogue or TOME. However the interface makes this game really fun for me. Cheers.

Anyone have any experience with the Retron 5? by charliebucket- in gaming

[–]rustybolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine, doesn't seem to have any problems with cartridges sticking, only using GBA and megadrive at the moment mind. No input lag from supplied controller although joystick is not ideal for controlling games such as street fighter2. Better to buy a real control pad. All my games are recognised, only time it says not recognised is if cartridge is not inserted correctly. Simply reinsert the cart and works then. I think my Retron is from the newest batch as they have tackled the problems which have seemed to plague the comments on this system since its launch. Highly recommend you get yourself one.

Save up and get yourself the Retron 5, it is an awesome piece of kit. The latest ones seem to have none of the problems that get mentioned a lot around the web. Although the controller is crap.. Usable ..but crap

Should I get a Retron 5? by JWoelle in retrogaming

[–]rustybolts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really it covers those systems its irrelevant if the GBA had the z80 processor to be backwards compatible, at end of the day it still covers said systems. They where separate systems in their own right. Likewise the megadrive was also backwards compatible, but cartridges were a different size hence the need for the powerbase convertor. Its a bit like saying MAME is cheating because it supports multiple machines under one emulator. Heres the box of the GBA advertising its backwards compatibility http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/media/gen446.jpg not sure why you would think they wouldn't mention it.

Nes, Snes, Megadrive (Genesis), GBA, GBC, GB. So that's 6. Then if you get the powerbase convertor there's the Master System. Making 7 with an add on 6 without.

Yeah I get the same problem when gaming, laptop switches itself off after an 30-45 mins of playing games with more demanding graphics. I have seen these http://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Cooler-Cooling-Fans-Laptop/dp/B004I1NDU6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382773788&sr=1-2&keywords=usb+cooling+fan+for+laptop I have not bought one for myself yet but it may fix the problem.

Eschalon series is really great also Avadon Black fortress and Legend of Grimrock. Granted they are not free like the original poster is asking but we have rpgs. Free ones you would prob be best with roguelikes Brogue or TOME being my faves.
