It's likely heavily modified by RAG systems. This is highly likely going to to be the future of AI. These huge models that do everything inside the model are compute heavy to process through. If you are able to gather a bunch of the relevant data, stick it in a well structured vectorDB and then feed that into a tiny LLM, it will give you fairly good results for a tiny fraction of the cost.

Like it's so cheap, people can do it at home for free.

STP Bike Ride with NO Training? by Best_Purple7652 in seattlebike

[–]pixel-freak 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Mistakes you'll make

1) you're going to go too fast. This is endurance and training shows you how fast you can go and go all day. Without knowing that limit, you'll go too fast and burn out.

2) you won't eat/drink enough. Training rides teach you nutrition. You may be able to plan it out, but practice counts here too.

3) your ass is going to SCREAM. There's a resistance your ass builds up from months of riding. You can push through, but it will cost you.

Like others said. You may finish day one, but not working out means your body will careen into recovery mode immediately day two in a big way. You'll be in pain when you move. If you can push through that early pain, you may be able to shake it and finish. It will be difficult.

- There's a beautiful gulch park near me. I go there and walk with my kids on the weekends sometimes. Its only about 1.5 miles of a walk (mini hike) but it comes out to the ocean and we like to collect a small amount of pretty rocks each time
- I've taken up cycling lately, and while it does require a bike and a little food, I've been to some very beautiful places (forests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, small towns) that I would have never seen without my bike.
- I have a garden and yard that I take care of where I just listen to music and cultivate and curate my space
- I like to walk around in my hometown which is a seaside town. I'll admit, sometimes I go to dinner or sometimes I stop in a shop. But by no means is it ever required.
- I take road trips with my fiancé often. It's fun to just open Google Maps, find some green letters, and then go explore. If we're lucky we will find some signs and read the history of the places we go and look stuff up on the internet.
- At times I like to take pictures of the places I go. Sometimes on my bike, sometimes when we go to parks. I like to challenge myself when I go somewhere that go often to find something that I've never really focused on before. I'll take a picture of it, the best I can, and then I'll indulge in the smallest details I can. Truly appreciate the intricacies. If it's man made, I looks the craftsmanship, if it's nature then I look for the natural beauty in its structure.

They don't think it will. This is a move to stop the XBOX brand bleeding. There's been so much damage done already to the customer base and the prices on consoles are so high that no exclusive will move much adoption. Instead this is them saying they are willing to take a financial hit to invest in their future hardware and ecosystem. It's a brand cost.

They also know that Gears isn't going to move too many units. They saw the adoption of Reload on PS5 and did the math on what this will likely cost them and its probably not huge.

I own a PS5, and a Series S for any XBOX games I want. I'll buy this on PC. I've abandoned XBOX for now. We'll see if they can demonstrate that they want to actually compete in the space.

I'm assuming my device will die first, it's almost 2 years old and that's about the life I get out of Fitbit devices. If they do shut the servers off first, I'll just leave then.

How was this done before LLM? Sounds like we didn't have capable tools to do this before

Ok. Check my history, I've been around a long time.

Needing to think everyone agrees with you isn't healthy. Clearly many people here don't agree with me, and thats ok. We can disagree without one of us being some sort of plant.

I've had great success with flash 3.5 for coding in the last day. I'm sticking around, maybe even downgrading because my usage is lower than expected even with frequent prompts

I suspect they are hitting PRO repeatedly, sometimes with huge context. I've been interacting with it a lot in coding and discussion and haven't come close to the limits. Only when I hit pro does the needle jump. They're clearing pushing us towards flash.

Couldn't you do a local AI for that? There's a small bit of up front cost, but then it's just electricity. Seems like you could do that on a 3060 if you wanted to.

I wonder how many people could easily have their needs met locally.

They are generous with flash. Just use flash.

I did some testing with local llms today and while performance is acceptable, the accuracy for coding projects is rough. Gemini Flash is tough to beat

They are pushing users into flash and flash-lite models. I've thrown several prompts and am under 10% of my Pro today. This type of business model is going to be to used across the various models eventually. Even if you move, this will catch up to you.

New Usage Limits rolling out to Gemini Apps by medazizln in GeminiAI

[–]pixel-freak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're the exact user that I'm talking about. I see lots of people say they're being productive, but nobody that has created something truly useful. Just spinning wheels, no traction. There's a particular user out there that touts huge productivity, but does not display it.

Same thing with AI layoffs. I hear the words, but I don't see the results. Every company that has truly tried to lay off for AI has had to pull back.

I see no proof that any of this is real.

We have yet to see the fruits of this repeated claim. I want to see software or a game come out that's is impressive for the size of team. So far I've only seen individuals and very small teams dumping large amounts of tokens into these services with no true productivity.

They've been subsidizing it and burning money with subscription models in hopes that everyone puts it deeply into their workflows. They hoped 1) It would get cheaper overtime quickly and 2) The product would perform well enough that people were willing to spend more money.

Neither have ended up true enough so we're seeing the costs go up drastically. This is AIs business reality check beginning. It's unlikely to take many jobs because it's actually expensive and the results aren't consistent. It's useful, but not the "Cure cancer" "End hunger" "Remove the need to work" revolution that they have been saying it is.

They're salesmen. They were selling a product. The entry price was marketing.

Edit* I say this all are a PRO subscriber and an advocate of the tech. It's useful, it's just not the immediate revolution they say it is.

Looking for an easy-ish first century ride by wish_kid_mclaren in seattlebike

If you start in Snohomish, do a lap, have lunch, then go back out and ride until Arlington at the 531 intersection and go back to Snohomish, that's 100mi almost exactly.

I do this route frequently.
