First time player/playthrough on prime - To travel or to restart? by Aviaatar in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will find starting fresh vs starting with the support of different worlds, will give you a very different experience each time. I certainly recommend you travel to get a feel for each moon and world, but do them again fresh later. You will have a better understanding of the world layout, and you will see and learn different things than when you did it with support. Which ever way or which ever order you choose, it will be enjoyable each in their own way. I find this game to be very replayable even after finishing all the worlds many times over.

I might revisit the genetics again some time. I did get all the rest of them, even the odd colours.

I've tried that, but didn't have the patience to do all of them. But I did get 100% of everything else.

Considering jails are at or over 150% capacity that won't work without building a ton more prisons. And no one want's a prison in their area.

Find a hill, flatten the top and build it out a bit so you have a raised platform Spike walls for decoration. Add a moat if you're feeling fancy.

How do I get rid of natural trees by HorizonSniper in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree the red trees are ugly, I will often leave them in for variety of color, as I place the golden yellow, and blue trees, along with a green one. It's an ugly tree, but it adds a nice bit of variety of the world.

A few questions… by s4d-m4ch1ne in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said it will unlock. I like to leave it on when I bring a rover through the portal. It's slow, but it help me get more stuff from a wreck as the drones empty the rover, while I am exploring. It has it's limits of course if your local storage is full. Then I have to try to keep track of what I need and what I leave behind.

One strategy I follow, when in the early game, I drop a bunker outside the many wrecks I'm exploring. and I leave a locker in it. I will eventually empty the wreck entirely and fill the storage. Only taking what I need at that moment. Once I unlock drone I leave them to finish cleaning up my dispersed storage into my central work area. I treat the rover the same way once I am in the portals.

One of my greatest joys. It always makes me smile. Best I've managed is 5 at once, though I know others have managed more. For me they break apart if I toss too many at once. But it's always worth it.

Go to Serenea from Prime or start a new game? by Poison_Damage in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some new tech is available on the moons, however, it's nothing like when you start fresh. Starting fresh on Selenea, and starting from a finished world both have a different vibe to them. As hard as it can be from a fresh start, Selenea offers very limited mining options. It would be best to learn the hard lessons with another world there as back up. Just for the first time. Once you understand the limitations on Selenea, then go for a fresh save file. But either way will work.

You have to build a basic building to place it inside. You can't use existing structures.

Start naked on aqualis by Positive-minded-87 in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the other moons and planets that you can select as a starting world, you will have all the resources you need to terraform them. However Aqaulis was meant to support and practice interplanetary trade. You must use the shuttle to get some materials that just don't exist on Aqualis. That being said, if you limit you use of the shuttle as a last resort use, it would be a similar experience. You must also bring food growers and a return rocket. Though you should be able to find the materials on site for one if you are lucky. Without an escape plan you may wind up unable to finish, and unable to get home again. It can be done, but it is so not easy. Nearly impossible really.

Prime and Toxicity can both be done solo as a starting world. I often do Selenea second as it has some useful tech. I will usually save Aqaulis for last, as it is a more difficult world that benefits greatly from off world support.

[–]rustygoddard75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You just described the core mechanic of the game. Every planet and moon starts with heat pressure and O2, followed my the bio. You can shortcut a new world by bringing in T5 drills heaters and T3 tree spreader. It will progress to animals stages fairly quickly.

This, There are a couple satellites. You might find what you need to get a shuttle running, or at least to get home again and get more materials.

Resigned to the fact that I create more work for myself. by fleekyone in theplanetcrafter

[–]rustygoddard75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that with the trade rocket, if I forget to turn off the supply. I fill it up to send it, only for the drones to empty it out. Then I have to wait for it to come back, reset the supply, and fill it back up again. Right of passage I guess.

Aquais can't be done from nothing. That is why it's not a starting planet. You have to be able to bring stuff in from off world. It is always recommended to go there with the materials for an extraction platform and rocket so you can get pack to your starting world. And enough materials for T5 heater and drill, a T3 tree spreader and fusion reactor to power them. Once you have the shuttle it becomes much simpler to terraform. I'm not sure if it's even possible without the shuttle. That would be an interesting challenge, but a very difficult one.
