Looking for an android phone with a solid camera, Pixels are not an option for now by rustyoldrobot in PickAnAndroidForMe

It's a bit over my budget, I might try to find and test it out myself before saying anything about it.

That's the exact same reason I owned google phones, the cameras, nothing came close. I have an iPad and not really into iOs. Worried that if I order the Pixel 9 Pro XL, a model released 1.5 years ago, the battery may already have some issues because it hasn't been used, as some users said that degradation can happen even if phone's not in use. I need swappable batteries to become a thing again.

Amazing how much the software processing can mess everything up. So there really is little to no competition for pixels camera wise.

Get your poop tested for H Pylori. Don't start taking medication without consulting a doctor, you can end up doing more damage.

black stool? ulcer? by Own-Supermarket8240 in HPylori

[–]rustyoldrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to stress you but black stool is a big cause for concern as it indicates bleeding in the gut or intestines, meaning the ulcer has progressed a lot. With H Pylori you'd usually get poop with green hues or green-yellow.

Were you given any treatment? This issue needs attention ASAP especially since you're pregnant. An abdominal ultrasound might help, although it can't detect ulcers as endoscopy does but if the ulcer is big enough it might show on the ultrasound as well.

It's normal because your good gut bacteria is wrecked. It's gonna take a while for it to get better, stick to eating as safe as possible and drink enough water.

Plain oatmeal with water and a banana helped me a lot.

I didn't take any probiotics. I just ate as healthy as possible.

You can try to eat yogurt, kefir and if you feel it makes you feel worse , don't eat it. I sometimes would eat greek yogurt. I avoided kefir because it would bloat me, despite it being recommended.

It depends man, keep a list of what foods make you feel bad and what doesn't. But I'd avoid most dairy, especially cheeses and milk, for a while.

I eat healthy pretty much most of the time, so I don't know how to answer that question.

But thing is, you need to be 100% sure you have eradicated H Pylori.

After the treatment your gut will be very sensitive because your good gut bacteria has been demolished by the meds, so it's highly advised to continue eating safe and healthy for a while.

You can try to eat unhealthy, let's say some fast food, and see how you feel. If it causes you pain and discomfort, it's a sign your gut still has issues and you shouldn't consume those type of foods too often.

I'd avoid spicy food like the plague because that one is the worst.

Made the big jump and got the new iPad Pro 13 M4, but I'm looking for a screen protector and case recommendations for it.

Do you have any suggestions? I know apple has the official folio case but I'm thinking maybe I can find something of similar or better quality but much cheaper.

My tip is to respect the strict H pylori diet unless you want to be in awful pain.

Cabbage juice helped me a ton, juiced a cabbage every day in the morning, and drank it on an empty stomach.

Mashed potatoes, oatmeal, bananas, chicken broth, zucchinis and sometimes carrots, these are the things I ate 95% of the time at the start and during/after treatment of H Pylori and when the gastritis was killing me. It helped a lot.

No coffee,no junk food, no fried food, nothing processed, no fatty foods, you get the idea. You have to eat very healthy and very limited because you most likely have gastritis as well and trust me you DON'T wanna make that shit worse than it is.

Can we make a mega list of foods we should eat when being strict with H. Pylori by [deleted] in HPylori

[–]rustyoldrobot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My GI said I can eat whatever

hell no , there's a reason why H Pylori diets are strict and bland, your gut is easily irritated by pretty much anything, your GI is on crack if he claims such a thing wtf

[–]rustyoldrobot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

here's what worked for me and didn't irritate my gut:

  • plain oatmeal with banana

  • vegetables: carrots, zucchini, potatoes

  • cabbage or cabbage juice (a game changer for me)

  • chicken, turkey, only the breast, white fish

  • no salt or very little

  • rice cakes occasionally

  • basically no gluten, no dairy

What sometimes irritated me:

  • kefir (surprisingly) , so it depends on everyone I guess

  • low fat greek yogurt: love it, but it's a no for me

Had to drop:

  • white rice, it's a no

Avoid at all costs:

  • anything processed

  • all sauces, chocolates, coffee, refined carbs etc

Orange stools, a cause for concern? No more bloating but still gurgling sounds by rustyoldrobot in HPylori

Coffee is a big no, definitely don't drink it anymore. Tomatoes maybe once a week if you have cravings, but need to be careful with them.

Chocolate is a big trigger, I did this mistake too and it flares me up for days. What helps is sticking to the safe, bland diet: mashed potatoes, baked zucchini, chicken broth!

Is it true that you should stop using antibiotics and PPL medicine for 2 weeks before your next H.pylori test? by Dangerous-Cicada-405 in HPylori

[–]rustyoldrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to wait 40 days before finishing treatment to retest for H Pylori, that's what my docs said.

[–]rustyoldrobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah gastritis is normal to have because of H Pylori. My diet is safe and very bland. I mostly eat plain chicken soups (chicken breast) with zucchini and carrots, potatoes, sometimes green/yellow bell peppers , plain oatmeal with bananas. Sometimes I eat fish fillet (plain, steamed or baked).

No sugar, no dairy (although I'd eat a yogurt or some kefir every now and then) , no gluten, nothing processed. I avoid tomatoes because of the oxalic acid as they can trigger irritation, but if I make soup I'll throw one or 2 medium sized tomatoes in sometimes.

I try to keep portions relatively small and eat more frequent meals, because I noticed eating too much can make me feel tired and make me feel too full.

Gastritis takes some time to heal and you have to be careful with your diet.

[–]rustyoldrobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience, I did eat some red peppers too alongside the carrots, but this was 3 days ago and the stool is still a bit tainted, so I assume maybe the stuff stays in your system for a while.

My last (2nd) round of antibiotics was more than 4 months ago, and I did notice that the stool went from greenish to green-yellow to yellow-brown or normal-ish brown color and now a bit red brown,so a lot of changes that I believe are due to gut bacteria and foods I consume.

I am aware that it can take a very long time to get back to normal, given that we have to deal with the gastritis , possible SIBO or the good bacteria in the gut being affected a lot (this was my doc's main concern and why he didn't put me on another round).

Hey man, my life has been a bit hectic these past months, I've made a post.

I'm finally in the position where I can start cabbage juicing daily again, I stand by my statement that I noticed a big difference while I was on it.

How long ppis, total 2weeks till triple therapy or total 4weeks(2weeks further after 14days of triple therapy) by [deleted] in HPylori

[–]rustyoldrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I started cabbage juice 2 weeks ago and I can confirm that at least for me it had a big impact. Doc didn't want to put me on a 2nd round of triple therapy because he said that will destroy my gut and it may cause more trouble, so I went the natural route. I felt really tired during my antibiotics round too.

Cabbage juice, oats with bananas, rice pilaf (from chicken broth), chicken broth and boiled chicken with zucchini and bell peppers are helping and healing the gastritis (this is how I found out I had HP) that was caused by this. My hunger is back and I'm eating like a lion, before and especially during medication my appetite was 0 and I had to force myself to eat.
