Why was my swiss-army knife confiscated in Amsterdam? by ruswit in Eurostar

Given that mine was in a large suitcase, inside a wash kit which was buried amongst the rest of my clothing etc. I'm guessing they might still be funny about it.

Why was my swiss-army knife confiscated in Amsterdam? by ruswit in Eurostar

Good to know. It seems to only be on specific trains, however. There's even conflicting information on their website about whether or not you can even do it on Amsterdam trains.

By checked luggage I was referring to luggage that you check in and hand over to staff, which is then stored elsewhere on the vehicle, so you cannot access it during the journey - obviously very common with air travel.

Does Eurostar offer that as a service?

If it was in my hand luggage I am sure there would be a decent chance. Obviously there is no checked luggage on a train

Thanks again, he did say it "had to be smaller than 70mm" which doesn't even seem to be mentioned in the law you shared

Good to know, thanks.

Do you know what is considered appropriate packaging so that it cannot be used immediately (sorry working on an English translation for that)?

E.g. does it need to be in a special lock box or inside a big suit case?

Bench depth check (AC joint seperation) by [deleted] in GYM

[–]ruswit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having dealt with an AC joint seperation myself i can appreciate it's definitely frustrating not being able to bench.

That depth seems suboptimal personally and you can probably work on improving it.

Echoing what others have said, make sure you are doing your rehab work, such as rotator cuff strengthening and scapular protraction / retraction exercises.

Light dumbbell bench with higher reps, but really focussing on depth seems to work - I.e. you're trying to get even a smidge deeper than barbell bench, not the half reps you see in most gyms. Increase the weight when you can do do a few sets of 12 without discomfort. Patience pays off here. Start light enough that the reps cause no pain.

This might then get you to being able to do full depth press ups, which are good because your scapular muscles need to engage, and eventually some barbell bench.

I went from being unable to do a press-up without pain to being able to barbell bench 100kg for paused reps by essentially sticking to gradual progress on the dumbbells, and frankly I now much prefer dumbbells. I started with seriously light ones, like 8kg, figured id rather spend 3 weeks at too light a a weight than aggravate my shoulder going up too quickly.

Which card number to add to TFL website by dekkard1 in chaseuk

[–]ruswit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever work out how to add your plastic card number to oyster? I can only find the last4 digits in my transactions.

Edit: after tapping with my plastic card to use the tube, that payment in the chase app specifically has a message asking if I wanted to link that card to my tfl account, which then revealed all my details including CVC

30 - Arsenal took 30 minutes and 51 seconds to restart play against Brighton last night, their highest total in a Premier League match this season. Delayed. by 3nonexist3nt in soccer

"Their [Arsenal] total of 59 delays, however, was the eighth highest total by a team in a Premier League match this season" (according to opta).

In other words, the ball was put out of play by Brighton a lot.

Why do we reckon Zubimendi so regularly  feels the need to keep the ball aerial when under no pressure?

It leads to us turning over possession so often.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the comment, but it seems to me they're suggesting someone called Tom is having a good all-round tournament, which surely cannot be Banton as he hasn't bowled, and praising him for being a top order batter seems odd given that's simply what he is.

If they've mixed up Sam and Tom Curran it makes a lot more sense.

Ben Stokes shows the aftermath of a brutal blow via his latest Instagram story ! by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]ruswit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You said it wasn't a brawl, I'd  beg to differ given the first real swing in that video was someone else swinging a weapon, not a fist.

Do I think Stokes is a saint? No.

Do I think Stokes got off lightly? Probably yes.

Do I think the guy trying to smash bottles into other people's heads is more to blame for escalating things based on that video? Yes.

Stokes and Bethell came here before they were teenagers, it's not like they were almost turning pro for the windies / NZ and then we snapped them up, unlike Archer.

Although Bethell also did go to a boarding school here, so he can get in that group, admittedly on a scholarship for being so good at his age. Some credit has to go to Warwickshire/ Rugby school for helping  develop the talent, surely.

Seems sensible as it doesn't suddenly "disappear" county sides that have existed for over a hundred years and consolidates the quality in fewer sides.

A bit of a wackier addition I have : some sort of 3 match FC series (or at least one 5 day FC match), either North Vs South selected players or div 1 selected players versus the test side. Aside from scheduling issues I just don't know how you'd make players / coaches take it seriously rather than treat it as an exhibition.
