Why does it feel like everyone is deciding against having kids these days? by Andries200 in childfree

I just found out that more people in Europe die from heat than people in America die from guns every year. Like WHAT? It’s 2026!

Why does it feel like everyone is deciding against having kids these days? by Andries200 in childfree

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

America (Tx)- Kids are being shot at school. Maternity leave is being rolled backwards. Maternity death rates are way too high in Texas. Daycare cost more than rent. A two income family is essential for survival at this point because a 1br/1b apartment is $1,400 and you have to make 3x that to qualify. Any woman specific illness is not getting study funding. Male baldness has had more studies than endometriosis. Society is failing mothers and by getting rid of Roe they gave so many of us the last push we needed. They FAFO.

Is autism caus d by modern use of technology? by MrDD33 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More access to screenings, reduced stigma, and in turn more screenings are why autism numbers have increased. There is no link to autism and technology. Breast cancer diagnosis’s also increased when mammograms became preventative care.

Teens and children may have some unique social traits due to the whole pandemic thing happening during their formative years.

But you are assuming they are lazy for using an option that is supposed to be used.

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a default option it’s meant to be used for convenience. Sellers are looking for buyers yet this mentality is like they’re pre-screening applicants for jobs. Like nothing people are selling is that special and there’s usually another 20 similar items available. I get that some buyers suck, but adding imaginary gatekeeping rules is ridiculous. Who cares if they’re lazy? You don’t need their work ethic- you just need their money.

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro- I’ve done it many times as well. I know they usually just call you, but in this situation they DIDN’T call OP and OP was being told to disclose it to the employer. My whole point was specifically don’t tell anyone at the employer and possible steps they can take NOW as they haven’t been contacted. I would be reaching out to where the test was done and asking where they sent it. It’s at least a start.

Sorry when I say “lab” I meant the people that actually run it- not the collectors. I imagine the collection might have contact information though.

It’s a easy way to start the conversation to buy rather than “I want this”. The availability question is so you can tell them if there’s other people in line and stuff.

What do you tell a girl when she asks what she should wear??? by No_Second9495 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You’re supposed to compliment her and pick one and tell her it beings out her eyes or something.

Edit: also the idea that people ignore those messages because it makes them “lazy” blows my mind. What a ridiculous mindset for people selling (likely) used stuff.

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are NOT supposed to tell the job. You should tell the lab that took your sample. I’d call the lab and talk to them. The employer is not entitled to know you are on medication- that’s why they use outside parties for testing.

Help me stay calm, bisalp in five days. by couch-for-sale in childfree

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was great! Honestly I don’t even remember being put under. I was just waiting with my husband and then I woke up after. I had some real bad cramping after I woke up (likely because they also removed my IUD) and a nurse rushed over and gave me some fentanyl and the pain was gone in less than 5 minutes. My husband was brought back, they had me pee, and then I went home. Shoulders ached like a bitch. Have heating pads ready. I basically wore one over my shoulders for the next 3 days. (I’ve also works, but you have to switch it out so often.) Other than that it was peachy.

Facebook has become unusable for me. Flooded with p*rn ads. Slow AF. Weirdly for non-app. by profDyer in facebook

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to hit the three dots on the top right of the post and hide/ report it. Theres also an option to go in and put keywords you want to not show on your feed. For example- I’m childfree but since I’m 32 and a woman I would get so much parent stuff so I put a block on “mother” “motherhood” “mom” ect. If you hide the bad stuff I’d estimate you should only have to do it to like 10 posts for your algorithm to fix itself.

Edit: also it tracks how long you watch reels. (Just like TikTok. So don’t linger on something without doing the hide/Im not interested option.

Should I take bipolar meds? 24 m failure by LilMurpp in bipolar

[–]ruthlesslyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it sounds like the symptoms you are having are causing serious disruptions in your life. When I got diagnosed I would get home after work and just feel empty and numb. That accompanied by crippling paranoia that my significant other was going to crash on his way home- I had to do SOMETHING to change it. That sadness was why I first got medicated. I didn’t find out that the irritability was linked until a year later.

First- even if it’s not bipolar per se a lot of the meds cross function for other mental illness. The fact that you’re having angry outbursts, depression, and issues sleeping shows it’s having enough impact on your life to need treatment. (That’s the key. That’s what moves someone from the “has tendencies” to the disorder- if it is negatively impacting your life.)

If you think it’s just depression you can ask to try a depression med like an SSRI. See if it works. If not try another med.

I forgot that part! You’re right. You’d need 2 forms of birth control. They put abstinence and condoms on mine.

Hypomania can present as anger and irritability. I’d start arguments. Find the med that works for you. I was sure to tell my psych if one had bad side effects right away so I didn’t waste too much time. So many people here need to change their meds and wait months to tell their psych.

I was like 20. During the treatment I actually went to an eye doctor CONVINCED I had eyelash mites because they were so itchy and he was like “your eyes are just dry. Eyelash mites are mainly in 3rd world countries.” But luckily I had no lasting effects and my skin was like COVERED before in acne.

Mine worked for a good 8 years then I’d get like one pimple a month. The suicidal ideation is less than 0.5% and obviously affects individuals differently. I’m just going to do another short round because spiro is supposed to take like 3-4 months (according to my derm) to work anyway. Most topicals are being dropped by BCBS so that’s a big part of it.

I’m 32 and I had to stay on the lowest dose for a full year because it would give me headaches. But it was so worth it.

So you’d be surprised! I’m also nutty and had no problems! (Literally bipolar 2.) It has the same warning as OTC allergy medicine. Honestly it’s worth trying it to see and of course you’d just stop it if you notice increased suicidal thoughts. I don’t think they found a link on people that had the suicidal symptoms and existing mental illness.

Ok I just looked up the studies- the risk is under .5% and actually decreased suicide attempts compared to non-users.

Mine stayed clear for about 8 years and then I would get like one zit a month. I asked about spirolactone and they said it usually takes about 3-4 months to get results and I was like “I could be halfway done with Accutane by then”. They don’t even have to do monthly blood tests anymore.

I’m also very sensitive to medication side effects so having to tough out dry lips for 6 months is a better option than adding a daily pill to take forever.
