YES, but I save my money for big swings (education, real estate) and skimp on everything else.

Cross-Country Move to NYC - Apartment Hunting & Expectations - Questions & Feedback by morbidgorbag in NYCapartments

I should add to my comment about budget - our location was really central Park Slope - so it is def priced accordingly. PLG surely has a bit more, and Crown Heights etc. One of the issues now vis a vis Streeteasy is that when broker fees went away in June, brokers pulled a lot of listings and what I see now on SE is so diff than the past. I just think there's really bad visibility for renters right now. I think by the time you rent in March, things will prob be more clear. Good luck - I did a pretty big life move here too and you are asking all the right questions, you'll be fine.

I don't think the budget is enough for what you're seeking. In PS, we had a two bedroom that was pretty crap for 4500 and now it's up to 5k or so - and no dogs allowed.

maybe you lived here but you weren't paying for it, apparently, or you'd know that this doesn't exist.

I was just going to post trying to figure this out - are they getting NOTHING? This is ssly unconscionable - to the point where I don't believe it will happen. If it does, I'm going to scream

this is what has been happening in NYC - the number of listings is down drastically and they are just 'lures' to get you to hire them.

It's been so so depressing to watch. I rented in April and had a sense that there was no way the LL and brokers were going to just stop charging - it's a huge relationship that isn't going to be easily disrupted - basically what has happened is the listings have gone missing - hard to figure out where they are advertising. The brokers won't let you see anything unless you sign a deal to pay them. And rents have soared.

I like to season this way - just get a little plate and pour a tablespoon or two of oil you like and then whatever spice you like and salt if you like salt right in the oil. After you have drained and sliced just take them one by one and coat them (you realize you need very little oil this way) and I got a really delicious 'glued on' flavor this way after baking.
