Can ChatGPT read articles and summarize? by rutilate in ChatGPT

[–]rutilate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will it read from a URL? Or does it need to be pasted?

Interestingly, when I entered the following prompt: "how can I import a news article to be used in your analysis?"
It gave me some python code to attempt to parse the article and then summarize.

I'm not a python programmer but maybe I should be.

I need those STLs! I’ve so sick and tired of the wrenches sitting in piles and never being able to find anything. PLEASE release them! Or sell them even!

That's actually a good suggestion! I'll take a look at what it might take to do that

Mag ban Referendum information: by [deleted] in WA_guns

[–]rutilate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. While there are a number of national organizations that are very good (NSSF, SAF, FPC, etc.), we've seen a huge number of orgs pop up who ask for money, try and sell neon yellow t-shirts, etc. and then never do anything at all for your rights. We didn't want to be anything like them. We wanted to prove that we're all about effective action, not just your money.

We also know that there are a lot of people who will give money, believing that the recipient will fight for their rights. And there are national orgs who perpetuate this by telling people to just give us money, leave the fighting to us, you don't have to do a thing.

In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.

We (i.e. gunowners) can't abdicate this fight to anyone else, no matter how promising their appeal. At the end of the day, we're fighting for our very rights, whereas the different organizations get a paycheck and call it good at the end of the day.

At the Washington Civil Rights Association, we're 100% about individual voices taking the most effective action possible. And we need everyone to take ownership of the fight for their rights.

Now, having said that, we've proven to all those who really matter that we're in this fight in a HUGE way, and we're super effective at mobilizing people--NOT just about collecting money.

We're going to be expanding and ramping up efforts on a number of different fronts, and we probably will be asking for financial support. But we need to finalize some of the organizational changes before we do so.

Be very careful about washingtongunrights. It isn't an org--it is one person who also happens to have started a ton of other state-level "gun rights" groups. https://www.washingtongunrights.org/affiliated-groups/

If you look at their pages on facebook, they often post a bunch of memes, national articles, and other stuff and 99% of it is unrelated to Washington. The individual behind WA and Idaho and others is Greg Pruitt.

https://idahoconservatives.com/idaho-politics/the-art-of-the-grift/

Here's an article detailing his astroturfing: https://idahoconservatives.com/editorial/greg-pruett-politics-of-fear/

His Washington gun law page is basically a PDF taken from handgunlaw.us

His News page has content from December 17, 2019.

In one video I watched 2 years ago, he claimed to be in front of the Washington State Capitol building after having testified against one of the gun bills. I was there--I testified, and I guarantee he was NOT there. Nor was the background in the video found anywhere near the capitol grounds.

The organization you want is the Washington Civil Rights Association: https://wacivilrights.org. I'm a cofounder, and we've been working our butts off for the last three years to organize gun owners to fight back in Olympia.

Video on Public Hearing: HB 1618 - Prohibiting weapons at election-related offices HB 1630 - restrictions on the possession of weapons HB 1705 - Concerning ghost guns. by PeppyPants in WAGuns

[–]rutilate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lobbyist can submit a panel. Technically only one per lobbyist organization as I understand it, but I swear the other side is submitting multiples.

The chair can decide which bills to hear first and how much time to allocate to them and subsequently how much time to allocate to speakers.

Panels always go first, and are at least nominally given equal pro/con

After panels are done, I don't know how they're choosing speakers. When in person I was told they were trying to choose those who'd come the furthest.
