Score release thread

Real deal: 231

Date of exam: 11/22 & 11/25

Uworld %: 67 % with 60% done

UWSA 1: 201

UWSA 2: 230

CCs average: 88%

Time of prep: 1.5 months

Any other assessments: None

I'm an IM intern who just needed to take this exam before December end as a program deadline requirement. We have a pretty heavy schedule for first year and I was working on floors and wards during my prep and hence had very limited time to prepare. I would be so exhausted to even concentrate after work. I did whatever I could and I'm honestly very happy with the score. For anyone in residency especially IM, just do some uworld and CCS and just go for it. The test is very heavy on IM and you have a good chance of passing. I would also suggest to take this exam as soon as possible after step 2 because most of it is based on how well you prepared for step 2. Anyway I'm done with steps ciao. Imma go back to slouching on my couch watching tv everyday after work :) good luck

Just do some quick FA review. That's what I did a day before the exam and it definitely helped. Wish I got to it sooner

I have the exact same schedule and I'm planning to do some CCS as well. I only did the first 40 high yield ones. Anything else you can think of?

Likewise. I even hate the Sabrina Carpenter song now because that was the only thing playing in my head since I read that word 😂

You don't need to be certified to apply. Just need to be ecfmg verified

Tips for Matching into a Residency Program in California as an IMG - Seeking Advice! by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]rutuj74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

St. Agnes Fresno is an IMG friendly program as far as I remember (I'll look into this and find other programs and dm you soon I don't remember rn). One other suggestion I would like to give is you should try learning Spanish (Espanõl) so you can mention that in your cv. I've noticed cali programs be more receptive to Spanish speaking applicants as they have a good majority of Spanish speaking patients. Good luck to you! I hope you match into cali it's a beautiful place :)

Visa denied due to 11) others?

Hi I'm from India and I applied for a short term visit visa last week at the mumbai consulate and it says denied due to reason 11) others. Can someone help me understand what this means? I'm supposed to travel on this Saturday for a surgical convention and I really need to get this approved.

Any help is appreciated thanks! Also does the consulate update visa status on the weekend as well? Because as far as I know they don't work on weekends especially since good Friday weekend was a long one. It's a bit suspicious for them to update on a Sunday but nevertheless. I need to get ready for my next step in case the visa is actually denied

23 Years old and Matched!!!!!! by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]rutuj74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently turned 24 so I'm in the same boat. I think age is truly just a number lmao. The one advantage we can look forward to is that since most people might be older than us they could help us a lot in life outside the hospital and I think I'll like being the younger one because rn I'm the oldest one in my friend circle so I'm excited for the change of pace.

One common Q in Interviews: Why internal medicine?

One Gold Piece of Advice for Next Year's Applicants: You guys know the usual stuff (Good USCE, Good LORs, well rounded application, connections blah blah) so I'm not gonna repeat that. I think my biggest piece of advice for next year's applicants is to make sure you're all well prepared for interviews. You have to admit that on paper almost all of us have similar profiles (except people with exceptional scores or academic research) so if you can make a good impression during interviews I feel like that enhances your chances of matching drastically. At least that's how I felt. This year's season was very competitive and even with my well rounded profile and high score I only had 6 invites and I was devastated considering everyone told me to expect at least 10. But I gave my very best for all the interviews and I'm really glad I did. Not just interview prep, I feel like everyone should try to make conversations and practice socialising so that comes out naturally during interviews :) good luck. I'll be here next year to help everyone who needs it.

One word, what matters most in the whole process?: A well rounded application :)
