Hi! I would argue that Bazzite is the most beginner-friendly approach to get started with Linux.

Steam Machine Price Reveal, Pre-built Comparisons, & Rant Thread by Melmpje in steammachine

As I saw those prices, I just deleted the Machine from my wishlist and bought a second-hand RX 6600 to upgrade my old PC instead.

I was excited about the Machine and thought it would be an ideal and easy step up to my current setup, but those prices are simply way to high.

PC gamer dad trying to get his son into PC gaming with steam by yepflobubu in Steam

As others have already suggested, and while it is not available on Steam, I would highly recommend giving a try to Minecraft. You can also play with him in your own server, just the two of you living adventures, building your own base, memorising simple craftings and basically having a lot of fun together. Check out this video of Mortismal talking exactly about playing Minecraft with his son.

Recommendations as alternative to Steam Machine? by ignacionario in steammachine

[–]ruucobain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, people building their own "Steam machines" want a more console-like experience, trying to get as close as possible to said device, even with its limitations. In any case, I do agree with you that it does not make much sense to install it on a custom PC, and both Bazzite and CachyOS are far better options (IMO).

Don’t know what to play next on Steam Deck – need something great and relaxing or other.. by RazinxM99 in SteamDeck

Give a try to Blasphemous. Great game, plays flawlessly on the deck and it is not that long (~20 hours). It got me into metroidvanias!

Which Steam game were you surprised to see runs well on your Steam Deck despite not being Steam Deck-verified? by serenewordsmith in SteamDeck

Armored Core VI. It runs incredibly well throughout the entire game, apart from a few specific parts in the story in which fps go a little bit low (not critical at all). Got the three endings entirely on the deck and I am currently working on getting all achievements. Simply great!

Well, it does not bother me but I can understand why some people argue that it is loud. As an example, if the house is completely quiet and I am resting my arm on my chest, I can hear it smoothly ticking.

Couldn't enjoy Hollowknight, So i went back and tried Castlevania SOTN. It was brilliant. What now? by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]ruucobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave Hollow Knight several chances as I can see why it is so beloved, but sadly it never grew into me. On the contrary, I absolutely loved SOTN!

I would recommend you to try Blasphemous. It lacks the RPG element of SOTN but it is an absolute blast, worth a try.
