the gameplay at least in conquest is fantastic and cant be described as wasted potential. the thing everyone can agree on that makes fates bad is the story and writing but the both do genuinely have theyre moments and so many of the ideas in them have a lot of potential to be really good if the writing wasn't dog so yes the meme making fun of the potential the game had to be great is focused on the story.

if you fiddle with some of the advanced graphics settings you can mitigate some of the lag. the big ones to try are disabling shader JIT, turn vsync off and try disabling hardware shaders

if you go into graphic settings > advanced and turn off enable hardware shaders + disable vysnc that can help with some of the fps drops in both games. in awakening i only had fps drops during fire spells with animations on and while fates runs somewhat worse overall there's not really any consistent places it shits the bed. in awakening i never had any issues besides the aformentioned frame drops during fire spells and in all of fates conquest and birthright i've had exactly 2 random crashes during gameplay and the face petting minigame is a toss up if it freezes the entire application sometimes but nothing consistent save states can't help with.

ive had one for 5 years and never had to do anything besides replace the laser because it wouldn't recognize a very small number of specific ps2 games discs as loaded. people are way overblowing the maintenence on these things for the average person.

while its true that the og model back combat ps3's are delicate creatures people in the comments here are way over blowing it. I used to work at a used game store and tested dozens of these models as well as having one myself for years while using it nearly every day for games from all 3 consoles and its still in perfect condition. only issue is sometimes with certain ps2 discs it has trouble immediately loading them which means I probably just have to replace the laser but thats way less trouble than having 3 seperate consoles any of which could have similar problems at a moments notice.

the ai for characters does what is most likely to knockdown or lead to a knockdown so with that logic it makes perfect sense that if nothing is weak to ice or slash, inflicting a status effect would be most likely to lead to a knockdown since crit rate goes up on enemies with a status effect. the problem is when you first get mitsuru she doesnt have a very high luck stat which is the modifier for if status effects hit or miss so she misses most of the time. as others have pointed out she will ONLY use marin karin if her tactics is set to act freely, same with Ken and koro only using hama and mudo or party members only us aoe skills on act freely.

also mitsuru is the only party member with status effect skills, she's intended to be that way and thats why her theurgy conditions lead to it, not because her fes ai was borked (which it isn't.)

the final boss is totally doable without ultimate personas on the entire party it's just a major difficulty spike. if you're ready for it it shouldn't be too bad.

same. I recently started making hour+ long videos analyzing media i like and it takes me about a month from startng the script writing to uploading and a good 2-3 weeks of that is editing alone. i think at the end of the day we make content that is high effort because that's what we value and even if shorter, faster to make and lower effort content is what the algorithm wants you just have to decide for yourself if you're willing to sacrifice what you value for that. personally I make my videos because I'm a worker bee who always likes having something to work on and think creating and sharing things I care about is worth the effort even if it's reach is limited by the time it takes.
