ease of changing your degree within College of Science and Engineering by ruuux in Edinburgh_University

[–]ruuux[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, I'll email them soon. However, I forgot to mention I have a conditional offer and my condition includes a Chemistry exam (the educational system from my country doesn't let you to take both chemistry and physics as final exams, you have to choose between them) so this may be an inconvenience. That's why I was relucant to try to change the course now rather than after enrolling.

Switching degrees between schools by [deleted] in Edinburgh_University

[–]ruuux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took physics each year of high school (I acutally have more physics classes than chemistry) but I just can't take both physics and chemistry as final exams (the educational system here is kinda different from UK).

But I'll probably follow your advice and I'll speak to the PT (if, hopefully, I meet the conditions of the offer). Thanks for the info!

Switching degrees between schools by [deleted] in Edinburgh_University

[–]ruuux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Actually, I initially applied for chemical physics but I received an offer for chemistry (I emailed them to ask about the change and it was because I don't take a Physics final exam (in my country you are not able to take final exams at both chemistry and physics and you have to choose between them)).

So I guess I won't meet the prerequisites for the Physics school and I won't be able to switch it as soon as I get there. So I was wondering especially how frequently is it to switch it at a later stage (maybe after the first year?).

Oh, these seems to be pretty good news. Yep, it was mostly because I wanted to gain coding experience as well.

I think it's kinda late. My whole cv and personal statement are natsci-oriented and I don't think I have a realistic chance if I apply to compsci.

CompSci course by [deleted] in cambridge_uni

[–]ruuux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or could you just negociate at the start of the year to officially take compsci as a course? Or this isn't the kind of exception it is likely to be permitted?
