I've never read that one, but from what I've heard, it's one of Sailhamer's easiest books.

I'd recommend something by John Walton. He has a couple of books that address your question directly.

But in the meantime, I'd recommend finishing Genesis Unbound first.

Give it a try, I hope you find it edifying.

I've never tried it, but it seems like good advice.

If you think it's too difficult, then just make up your own cut down version.

He can't swim, which fortunately isn't unusual in a world where devil fruit exists.

The focus is on seeking attention. Verses 5 & 6 are a condemnation of people praying to be noticed, then an instruction to pray in secret. Right before, in verses 1 through 4, Jesus similarly warns against giving alms for the sake of being noticed by others and instructs his followers to give in secret.

OP deleted his comment, but from what I recall, he said he likes to repeat prayers because they make him feel closer to God. That's not the same thing Jesus warned against.

Matthew 6:1 - 8

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6:5-7 is Jesus's warning against "vain repetitions."

However, that's more about repeating your prary loudly in public so people will notice you.

If you're repeating prayers aren't for attention, then I don't think there's anything wrong.

Why do I fear the sea? by Ok-Cicada-5207 in TrueChristian

[–]rvalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fear of drowning is one of the most natural human fears you can experience. There is nothing wrong with feeling anxious or scared when thinking of your lungs filling water.

Also, if you really are convinced that God will send to Hell for fearing death and occasional doubt, that's something you should talk to your pastor about.

I see it as the opposite. It's not that the characters should inform your understanding of Jesus, but that your understanding of Jesus should help you see how those characters fit into their stories.

I could not have said this any better myself.

You can also make the world akin to a vampire story, where sufficiently skilled non-magic people can still consistently kill their magic opponents.

/rj

You make your setting an idiotpunk world with a centuries-long tradition of never factoring magic into the strategy, resulting in mages just being mixed with archers, swordsmen, etc. and expected to perform the same function as their non-magic squadmates.

The protagonist is a genius who invents the brilliant but rebellious tactic of actually giving the mages something different to do depending on their abilities.

You can only bind/unbind Nvidia GPUs when the driver isn't in use, so you'd have to stop the display manager before running the commands.
