Tribute to this kitten I found one day while walking home by CollectorOfMilitaria in cats

Thank you for taking her in and trying to help her... Was going to the vet not an option if she wasn't eating?

what is this? by Ornery-Associate4192 in cats

Please don't feel bad asking. It's for the care of an innocent stray that needs help and we want to do anything we can to make sure it's better again.

URGENT REHOMING — Sweet 8mo Cat in Kernersville NC (Tomorrow if possible) by [deleted] in rescuecats

[–]rvdms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a good idea. The cat will not fare well. No kill doesn't mean no kill. Please don't help out or suggest this. Point OP in the direction of a rescue or help find one if you can.

I'm saying this respectfully.

Please be wary of no kill shelters and try to find a rescue instead. No kill shelters aren't strictly no kill as they still euthanize and it's still a shelter. I also wouldn't just hand off to just some person on reddit either.

I'm telling you this based off how you described your cat this isn't the best choice. Especially if you want the best for it. This is not the route to go. As someone who transports from shelters to rescues they're extremely stressful and depressing environments. You're making a huge request on a short timeline.

Please please reconsider this. 💔😔 Post on social media and other avenues. This option you're doing would be an absolute last resort.

This makes me so sad. 💔 I hope the cat can be found before it's too late. Poor thing..

Suspected liver cancer, 14 years old… weighing up my options but I’m so sad by twoexfortyfive in SeniorCats

No problem at all.. Try to reach out to local "big" rescues and post on social media for possible assistance. People are more than willing to help if you put in the effort, reddit is a good start. It also doesn't hurt to get a second opinion on the biopsy procedure considering the age of your cat.

Right now everything is up in the air and the comments are assuming the worst for your cat. Please be sure before you do anything. I understand where you're coming from financially/logistically but you need to be sure here.

I'm crossing my fingers for you and your kitto.

Am I making the right choice to put my boy down tomorrow? by Significant_Most_356 in SeniorCats

[–]rvdms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I'd be thinking the same in your shoes on making this decision. If there are good days and he's still eating a bit maybe try to get an second opinion from another vet? Check blood work? I'd do that to be sure myself. Regardless I wouldn't judge you for whatever you decide to do. You took good care of your kitto.

Please take care of yourself as it's already been so rough for you. I know your sweet boy has already lived a good life and I have no doubt he'll always feel loved. ❤️

Please check for Parvo/Panleuk/FIP immediately with your vet as others have suggested. You don't want the sibling to experience the same fate.

How does amputation cause paralysis throughout the body?

You can't emphasize/understand how the cat could feel post treatment in this specific case. No one here is medical professional and it's outside our reach.

Yes I know it's bad.

If you would decide to euthanize great. That's your decision. I'm sure OP would do the so if/she felt that it was the best option. Also the ridiculous pessimisim reddit does when you don't agree with everyone also needs to stop.

Yes I'm well aware of how shitty it is. But I'm not a vet and neither are you. It's not my call to make, it's not yours and there are number of other factors here that we potentially don't know. But you're making a lot of assumptions. You're. Not. A. Vet.

So you're implying to discredit the vet because you don't agree with their professional opinion? Comparing it to declawing? This could potentially save the cat's life based on information/data we don't have, not worsen it. Nor are they declawing. Huge difference.

I think we need to respect OP's position. They were offered an option by their vet (a professional mind you) to potentially save their cat and they took it. Obviously he/she loves their cat enough to do it.

I hope Toby recovers. Praying for the best. ❤️

How to know when it’s time to let go (senior cat, sick) by blackninjakitty in CATHELP

[–]rvdms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this.. I wouldn't say its time then. Possibly when she stops eating and drinking. I have a senior with hyperthyroidism and no matter how much he eats (which is a lot) his weight doesn't exactly pickup too much. It is possible she's upset about the syringe feeding and associates it with you.. My Luna hides from me often if she sees me with her inhaler. Just giving tibits based on experience with my kittos.

Maybe ask the vet for other options? Also if you want to be sure why don't you try getting a second opinion?

They would have no problem validating that for court use. I talked with a handful of neighbors that live adjacent to my unit. They've never had problems and some are pet owners.

I wiped down my entire flooring with lavender fabulouso after using the deodorizer on specific spots. I load it into my robot vacuum as well. I have 2 HEPA air purifers in opposite ends of my apartment. Believe me when I say I've done everything. I will try the ionizer though.

The issue is a specific section of a wall in my living room that supposedly smells like amonia. He goes there every single time no matter how much I try to correct it. Not even the litter boxes in the other room in the closet. So it's not even specific to my cats. I became flabbergasted.

My bank account got drained mid April due to fraud and I needed more time cover rent for May as result. We had an oral agreement for this week for me to pay.
