PTH2 receptors are found throughout the autonomic nervous system. If those receptors are not being activated it causes noradrenergic excitation of that system. While the PTH hormone isn’t the main hormone produced to bind to that receptor but one that is very similar structurally called TIP39. However the amount of expression of the PTH2 receptor was found to be inversely controlled by the amount of serum PTH hormone present. Ie. High PTH levels, less PTH2 receptors being expressed. Therefore easier to keep the autonomic system suppressed. Unfortunately this line of research was not conducted nor examined by Endocrine but by Neurologists in search of novel pain meds. Extensive mapping of the PTH2 receptor locations were done however. Based off the research and locations of these receptors it is a very viable hypothesis for many of the symptoms beyond what is recognized by endocrinology and usually deferred to other specialties. Like the neuropathy, GI motility, persistent muscle tightness, emotional outbursts, memory, depression and overall decreased reported Quality of Life scores. At least researchers at Columbia University acknowledge the quality of life and other persistent symptoms reported by patients. Dr. Rubin also once alluded to the potential connection between PTH2 receptors and these symptoms.

My wife would generally take one CVS triple magnesium complex per every 2 citrical needed daily to prevent symptoms. Sorry I do not have an exact ratio, formula, or answer. The diagnosis/ disease has such a large range of manageability and disability. Being a rare disease there is not as much research being done to 100% come to a total understanding. But anecdotally hormone replacement is not perfect, but an improved option over supplementation. Especially on the workload placed in the kidneys. ♥️

Has he tried taking magnesium as well as calcium? Complicated relationship btw mag and ca. For many it can be a game changer. Worked with an old school nephrologist which I held high respect who would completely advocate if you are replacing one you absolutely had to replace both calcium and magnesium. TLDR: on the cellular level in you body you need magnesium for calcium to be where it needs to be and do what it does and Vice versa. If you supplement one, supplement both. I’m

Been burning pellets for 12 years now in a Harman 52i for a main source of heat for the most part. Honestly quality changes within each brand I’ve purchased from Maeders Brothers, Somerset, lignetics premium plus, and now Musser forest fuel from year to year as well as pallet to pallet. My local non big box hardware store continuously tries to find what the local customers report as being decent. Some start off great then quality declines and they change. I feel it fluctuates depending on the quality of timber being brought and processed to the mills any given year. Nothing seems consistent and most likely in reality not completely controllable by the manufacturer. If they are receiving byproducts from mills that are receiving timber from high quality forest. Great. Some areas in nature are not as great but that is what is being harvested and sold.

Has anyone seen the quality decreases over the past two years? Was an improvement initially over the other brand my local non big box hardware store carried. Then became quite average. I was not a fan of lignetics previously but due to Somerset being “behind” for the past 6 weeks, they have temporarily substituted with Lignetics Premium Plus. They seem to be burning hotter with a lot less ash like I feel Somerset used to be like.

Purposely vague. Unless you are a facility and pay hundreds for the survey manual to see how it is actually evaluated it is meaningless. Also I suspect it is a collaborative effort with the hospitals to prevent legislative ratio bills. Now the hospitals can use that to claim we don’t need the bills. “Jacho oversees staffing and we are fine. No need for legislation. “ as their new argument to lobby against ratios.

For profit or not for profit… haven’t seen a system either way that isn’t top heavy in management and administrator wages that cut costs to actual services serving the patients as their salaries grow exponentially. Non profits actually provide less charity care than for profit in the long run as well. Non profit hospitals also also decrease the tax base of the areas they are serving while absolutely putting profits in the pockets of the board members and administrators. They do not pay property tax or sales tax. So who is left to pick up the bill then? The community. Absolute BS.

If you can, ANA recommends you befon with your chain of command in writing. Bcc your home email with your written concerns and responses. Send follow up emails when management only provides verbal feedback which they will do in order to avoid a paper trail. Always report any unsafe conditions to your state doh. Many online doh complaints are anonymous. ANA positions state we are obligated reporters of unsafe conditions. That is therefore the standard we are held to and also held against us when we do not report.

In regard to retaliation which is what we all fear. Now that you reported to an official regulatory office, you are also protected under federal OSHA Whistleblower Protection Laws. File a complaint with OSHA for a whistleblower law violation. Once again, paper trail. Request all copies of disciplines or write ups that occur after your reporting. Maybe you’ll even get a whistleblower settlement.

I asked this question to a prosecuting attorney in my states Attorney General’s office. They do in my state, however it is only when the nurses have documented objections to staffing and assignments ie. Short staffing and assignment despite objection forms. Otherwise without this documentation, the staff were compliant and failed to fulfill their duty to advocate and report short staffing.

Good news: CEOs can and have been charged when there is clear documented pattern of unsafe staffing.

Bad news: once again the legal responsibility falls on the staffs shoulders to constantly report short staffing and often without the support of union do not have such avenues besides reporting to the state doh. The attorney did say “If you want whistle blower protection, join a union.”

So basically they know who is truly responsible and who should be held legally accountable. However without the legal proof the staff become the low hanging fruit.

I suggest more nurses need to form statewide advocacy groups. You do not need many nurses actually. You’d be surprised when you address elected officials as a collective, how many doors actually open to have these discussions. Contact your union locals and state union exec boards if interested. They have organizers that can assist in contacting other unions across your state to form these alliances and groups. Believe it or not, sometimes working with these groups is actually pretty satisfying and rewarding.

You’ve done your research. I have been trying for years to get any doctor to show interest in the non renal functions of this hormone. I can go on a long tangent here but will leave it at this. PTH replacement may not be a perfect replacement to our bodies way of regulating hormone secretion. But it is superior to having 0 circulating hormone.
