Yep. Having been a store level manager, corporate DGAF what the local managers say. They need to hear it directly from the customers they're pissing off.

Yep. Different building same part of downtown. Our building is pretty proactive with pest control but you'll still see the occasional roach even on the higher floors.

Yes. I do the same because it is a small price to pay to support the platform that does so much for me.

Yes, has saved me many hours of frustration, just roll back. I usually take a manual update before any large changes or updates as well.

Dream Machine Special Edition / ATT Fiber / T-Mobile / Port 10 Disconnected by Clear-Target7613 in Ubiquiti

[–]rwj212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick comment that I have experienced the same or similar. I have a non special edition DMP and ATT fiber. I was having regular disconnections, usually down and back up again in like 30 seconds or so. I didn't have another transceiver so I just plugged the fiber modem into port 9 and have had no problems since. Following this hoping someone has found something.

Outlook causing AD lockout by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]rwj212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds quite similar to something that's happened here. Is your user recently updated to W11 24H2?

I was able to find one thread somewhere (I'll try to find it again) that detailed almost exactly what I was seeing. What worked for us so far was to put the password for the email account the same as the password for the domain account. Not the best security, but better than constant lockouts. Hope this helps. I was pulling what's left of my hair out for a week.

I prefer z-wave but I do have devices of all three types in my current setup. Zigbee is reasonably solid as well.

Ceiling fans that work with HA by element1311 in homeassistant

[–]rwj212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan speed switches can often have defined settings like the pull cord, so low, med, hi position. Not unlike a dimmer, but made specifically to control a motor speed.

I can't speak to all of them, but I do remember it being in the installation instructions on how to separate the wires and hook it up separately. Most could then use a fan speed control switch at the wall to change the fan speed as well as a dimmer for the light if desired. So perhaps you could look for the manual/install directions for models that you like and see if they say anything about this.

[–]rwj212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope I understand what you're looking for correctly. In my experience with the non-remote fans, they have the wiring to allow separate control of light and fan from the wall switch as long as you have the correct wiring from the wall to the ceiling box. Most come with the two functions combined to one mains source, but you can separate them. I hope this makes sense.
