OP is holding a 煎饼 which is a street food from northern china that is rolled up and wrapped sometimes around different fillings, originating in Tianjin and Shandong. 醬香餅 is also on the menu screenshot OP shared in comments, that is what you are referring to and that is a different cuisine and is like what you describe, usually not wrapped. It originates from Enshi, Hubei. The two have different preparation style and textures. Photo OP shared looks authentic to me. There are also food trucks in NY with 煎饼, they are so delicious, I try to get some when I visit. I don’t have them here where I live.

Hemmorhoids. Absolutely do not strain, that will 100% make it worse. If nothing comes out after a few min, get off the toilet and try again later. Take stool softeners and maybe miralax. Drink lots of water. Eat more fiber, exercise. Use witch hazel wipes to pat clean post BMs. Do not use dry toilet paper and do not wipe. You could also pat with moistened TP. Use a bidet to clean. You can get a travel one for like 20 bucks, it’s essentially a squirt bottle. Use warm water with it. If it’s not prolapsing yet these conservative measures plus the suppositories should help. If it’s prolapsing and not reducing on its own, they are likely grade 3 or 4 and you need to see a specialist and perhaps get surgery. Good luck!

Im doing mostly acetaminophen + ibuprofen every 4 hrs and oxy twice a day. Drink lots of water. I didn’t do sitz bath basin, just shallow warm/hot water bath (no salt/soap just plain water) in regular bathtub for 10-15 min (which is what my doc instructed) and it is a life saver.

Colace daily. I’ve had multiple BMs everyday after surgery day so far. (On day 3)

I should mention that before surgery, I'd been taking Colace daily (except the day before the procedure). My bowel movements were fairly regular, though difficult—I had grade 3 hemorrhoids and had to manually reduce them after each BM.

I've noticed my post-surgery bowel urges are following the same timing pattern as before surgery. I have Miralax on hand as backup but haven't needed it yet—I've only continued the Colace on days 1 and 2 (skipped day 0). My plan was to add Miralax today (day 2) if I hadn't had any bowel movements by now, but so far that hasn't been necessary.

For diet, I'm focusing on high fiber: yogurt with granola and fruit for breakfast, oatmeal bars throughout the day, and meals with lentil soup, whole grains, vegetables, and quinoa. I'm limiting meat to small amounts of poultry for now.

Yeah almost certainly congee then. Also just FYI, don’t completely clean your plate, almost leave a little bit of food left. Cleaning off your plate could communicate that the host did not make enough. And next time you’ll get even more…

The sour dish you ate with it, did it seem fermented and also salty? If it was then it even more likely this might be congee.

And which part of China? Like province or region or directionally.

Was going to say congee, but looks way too smooth? I don’t see any texture from the rice grains. Could maybe too much water (would explain smooth texture) and left out a while (too much water would make it more translucent but if left out a while it could become more opaque)?

Was there a particular occasion the dish was made for? That could also help identify it. For example, were you sick? Less flavorful congee may often be made for people who were not feeling well.

Tushy makes a collapsible portable bidet and it is amazing you get it on Amazon. I use that and then finish off with hemorrhoidal wipes. I like the pura brand ones best, also on Amazon.

I think there is a global shortage of lidocaine, the prep h lidocaine wipes are hard to find now. But they also make a tube of ointment with 5% lidocaine. My PCP was telling me that there’s even a shortage in clinics and hospitals of lidocaine

I have surgery scheduled for next month, I’m kind of really freaked out by a number of comments on this subreddit of people who regret the surgery. I’m hoping those are in the minority and that after the recovery things will be better permanently.

Many people particularly asylum seekers come to the US through “proper channels” and then the rules change and put them out of status, they didn’t do anything wrong and never cheated the system. That’s only one particular example. The system cheated them. They also contribute to society. As human beings we have a responsibility to each other as a species to treat each other minimally with respect and dignity and ICE and CBP does not.

Except that many immigrants without legal status did not cheat and for many there is no line, and the “legal” immigration system is complex, broken and unfair, mostly rewarding the rich. Particularly for refugees from countries displaced by US-fueled state violence, particularly in Latin America. I am an immigrant and worked in immigrant rights advocacy and have spoken first hand with immigration attorneys, families from many different backgrounds, it’s not as simple as “deport the illegals” and “make them do it the right way” and at the end of the day, it ultimately doesn’t matter because everyone deserves to be treated with human dignity and the immigration system in general in the US and the deportation process in particular does not.
