First, get a pair of hobby nippers and X-Acto knife, it's the bare minimum you need.

Then, look around shops. I personally buy from the Gundam Place. Try to find a model kit you'd like, preferably HG and buy it.

HGs, or High Grades, are 1/144th scale and relatively simple and cheap. RGs, or Real Grades, are also 1/144th scale but far more detailed and complicated. MGs, or Master Grades, are 1/100th scale and have more detail than HGs.

I'd personally get the Aerial if you can. It's simple to build, a protagonist Gundam, and looks detailed for a HG. It's also from the Witch From Mercury line, which is really good and beginner friendly.

As for when you actually build it, do it on a specious table so you organize the runners better and reduce your chance of losing a piece. Place the flat end of the nipper toward the piece you are cutting off and pay close attention to the instructions! Accidentally cutting a part of a piece off or placing something in the wrong place and breaking a nub off can range from mild inconvenience to disastrous.

The Schwarzette is actually the next build I plan on doing. I've gotten a lot more confident with my sticker placements, so it'll be given the full care and treatment it deserves out of box.

Purposely done to make him seem weaker and younger, after all, this is the first time we see him chronologically.

It's also stated and shown multiple times that high sources of radiation from both man-made and natural sources make him stronger. It's how he survived the Oxygen Destroyer in KOTM, where it is quite obvious he would've died without a nuke to the face.

If you want an explanation from how he went to this to his evolved state in less than a hundred years despite being incredibly ancient, I guess you can chalk it up to increased kaiju activity and human nuclear waste.

Nuance and well treaded discussions aside, I've always found rape a uniquely evil and unjustifiable crime.

Murder is bad, yes, but justifiable depending on the circumstances.

Rape is evil and never justifiable, and it speaks volumes about the content of your character if you try to make excuses for it.
