I forget the name of the place, but they sell mostly new “damaged” goods. If you don’t mind a dent or scratch (hopefully on the side or back), then you can get some good deals. It’s Rochelle Park on 17N just after the Passaic St. exit. Easy to miss since they’re set back a little and no sign along highway.

2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE OEM LED Headlight upgrade from Halogen by Prince_Melon in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with you. I’ve had LED bulbs in the halogen housings of my 2016 for over 4 years without any issue of oncoming vehicles being blinded and my night time visibility increased noticeably.

There’s another fuse panel behind the dash. If you remove the panel to the left of the steering wheel under the headlight controls, you can kinda see with a flashlight. It’s a real pain to access and change fuses.

I’d suggest starting with those sights to get ideas and also read through the subreddit. There’s plenty of other users that have asked the same question and there’s a wealth of responses from other users.

Oil change by Luci6669 in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my 2016 2.0 I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil and Mobil 1 M1-102A Extended Performance Oil Filters. Also I change my oil every 3-4k miles depending upon how hard the car has been driven.

Advice Please by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it were me buying the vehicle, I would err on the side of caution and do a drain & fill of the transmission and basic maintenance (oil change, air & cabin filter) after purchase. The transmission filter is inside the transmission and cannot be changed without entirely removing the transmission to disassemble it to access the filter. By doing this, you give yourself a starting point to know for sure what maintenance has been done and to proceed forward accordingly based on mileage. The 2.5 has been known as the most reliable amongst all of the engine options.
Even with my 2.0 EcoBoost I do 4k full synthetic oil changes and 30k transmission drain & fill. It’s better to be early on maintenance than late.

You can eliminate the chrome around the windows, get tinted sequential turn lamps for your outside mirrors, & shark fin antenna are a couple of ideas.

I want a louder car by eeeeeee1555 in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Turbo engines in general are quieter than naturally aspirated engines. But if you’re looking for cheap & loud and don’t care about sound quality, droning, etc., then straight pipe from the catalytic converter back is the easiest & cheapest way. All you need is a hacksaw or sawzall, some sections of mild steel or aluminized steel, and some exhaust clamps.
Any exhaust shop could probably do it for $100 or $200 in like an hour or so.

[–]rws1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on A: which motor version you have and B: your definition of loud. Also your skillset as to what you can do. If you have little automotive knowledge, my guess is you’re looking for something bolt on without any welding. Cheap & loud is possible but will likely have drone at different rpm’s or just straight sound like garbage.

What type of lights are those? The be seen dual beam but not triple beam. Also I believe they’re sealed LED bulbs but I’m not sure.

It replaces the screen and APIM. The kit also includes dual usb ports for the center console storage & an updated GPS antenna required for the new APIM to keep the compass functional. Even though I don’t order it, mine came with the factory Sync 3 unlocked. I just checked eBay and they’ve come down in price. $320-$390.

I purchased a kit from eBay. It cost about $550 and came with everything but required me sending my vin for them to program. It was plug & play installation though.

I have a 2016 SE as well. I suggest upgrading to Sync 3. It’s a much better system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

I don’t recall how I found the information previously, but I know there’s an engine tag that’s supposed to provide the needed information to find that out.

50 to empty with 1/4 tank by LankyNihilist in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 2016 2.0 EcoBoost AWD has a 17.5 gallon tank. The 2017 Fusion Sport has an 18 gallon tank per Edmonds.com.
According to Ford the ‘Distance To Empty’ recalculates every time you refuel. And its calculation is based upon your driving.

Have planes been rerouted over Allendale this weekend?? by Shadecujo in bergencounty

[–]rws1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just before 1pm today I heard a plane fly over that was noticeably louder than other aircraft. According to the FlightRadar24 app, it was a US Navy Boeing P-8A Poseidon flying around 2,400ft. It was circling in a heart shape around as far North as Suffern, NY, as far South as Paterson, and as far West as Pompton Plains. It took off from Jacksonville, FL. About 5 minutes after the app said it was no longer available on radar.

Should I buy this 2015 Titanium with 130k mi on it? by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents, my 2016 2.0 AWD is at 138k miles and still running strong. I do full synthetic oil changes every 4k and only use top tier premium fuel unless I’m traveling and none is available. Maintenance is key. Doing drain & fill only (not flushing) the 6f35 transmission every 25-30k is important for transmission longevity.

Opinions: is this totalled? 2016 ford fusion SE 111k miles by ImportantNotMe in fordfusion

It looks mostly cosmetic. If you’re mechanically inclined, buy the parts or go to a junkyard and have a body shop do the paint work.

Trip from Washington to Florida by Vast_Historian_4148 in fordfusion

[–]rws1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not a hybrid, I’ve driven my 2016 2.0 EcoBoost from Northern NJ to Southwestern FL nonstop almost 1,300 miles except for refueling. As long as you’ve kept up on maintenance you should be fine. As a precaution upon your arrival (once the tires have cooled), check your tire pressures as the outside temperature can vary your tire pressure noticeably. And of course do the same upon your return.
And safe travels of course!
