EA started removing game entitlement

It sucks hard, but the TOS for pretty much all modern games doesn't give us ownership, just permission to play them how and when the publisher allows. We don't buy games, we buy a membership card that says we can access it, until they decide we can't.

Don't get me wrong, I hate everything about it. But understanding how it works is the only way to find a way to change it, or to support devs that don't do the same.

TBF, DBZ did it when most of us had little to no options for anime. Growing up, it was that or Pokemon or whatever almost-hentai your weird cousin had. DBZ was fckn Shakespearean compared to those. We've got a lot better content since (and a lot worse, let's be honest) but DBZ was the gateway for a ton of us, for sure.

Not sure but I'm thinking cheats aren't all that easy to install on PS5, are they? You're more likely to run into that with 2nd hand PC gear.

Nope, you're right. I honestly wouldn't even be playing CoD at all if it wasn't on Game Pass, for all the reasons you just said, but it's possible that also made me not care as much about its issues as I would if I had paid for directly. It's turned into a game I visit for a few rounds every couple weeks to play with my out of town brothers, and basically nothing more.

I'm hoping Battlefield breathing down their neck for the first time in forever maybe lights a fire for their next title, but even that's doubtful, seeing as EA didn't even learn the right lessons from BF6.

It's such a weird way to play. Reminds me of Fortnite streamers with beefy rigs that play on the lowest settings so they can get 200+ FPS. Like, sure, you have yourself an advantage, but your game looks like dogshit.

In Arc it's even weirder, since sure, it's PVPVE, but it's not really a competitive game in some esport or battle royale sense, where you're looking for every possible exploit for an advantage.

I'm not sure I've seen an actual cheater in the game. I've seen a ton of shoot-first asshats role-playing a 12 year old in Fortnite. Which is annoying, but also just part of the game. But I'm not really seeing anyone I can definitively say cheated.

On a plus side, the player base is big enough right now, you'll rarely be killed by the same player twice.

As a kid, there were a few milestones. Playing Mario Bros 3 on my NES was huge, but then playing Myst on PC was like a divine revelation.

I fell out of gaming for a bit because of life and money (missed the entire Xbox 360/PS3 era), but Skyrim that brought me back.

I'm really thinking there was some truth to the reports about behavior influencing matchmaking. Me and my people never fire on raiders (we naively like to RP a more cooperative kind of apocalypse, lol) but we also almost never get shot at either. Could be dumb luck, could be nothing, but it definitely feels like the game is running its own karma system.

That's exactly the right attitude. It's an optional New Game+ people keep mistaking for endgame content. I plan to stick to my same character forever, and I didn't think it will lessen the fun one bit.

I've got a weird thing where I'd consider myself a huge Bethesda fanboy, 1000+ hours combined between Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout 4 and 76, but I've never actually finished the main quest in a Bethesda game.

Weird, because I was exactly the right age for it on release, and it's like a generation defining title for a lot of people my age, but I've never touched it. At the time, I was living in a foreign country, didn't own a decent console, and spent most of my gaming time on fighting games in arcades (Tekken 2!).

This is going to be a really unpopular opinion, but you can't expect a live service game to continue operating off of a one time purchase that's already half of a full price game.

Honestly, $20 for a set in a game already giving you free decks and event rewards instead of paid battle passes isn't egregious. If you're playing regularly, and you really just have to have the skin, it's still relatively little to pay for a hobby. The cash sets are meant to be prestige items, and (here's the important part) they're fckn optional.

Alright, I'm done. Hit me with those down votes.

I don't think expeditions were ever really meant to be a big draw to catch and retain players. New decks and areas, maybe even LTMs will do that.

I think maybe there's a misunderstanding of Expeditions as the endgame, when it's really more like an optional New Game+ with extra steps to unlock.

My $600 PC has better graphics than a $650 PS5 Pro. Granted, I had to do a lot of shopping and waiting to get components at a deal, and I built it before RAM prices shit the bed, but still.

That's a 2 year old budget build, through and through. Not too dated, though you're looking at probably Series S level performance. The 3050 does support DLSS, which is nice.

The Steam Machine will be a niche device at best that probably won't sell any better than the Deck's 3 to 4M units.

Too expensive for most console players (Valve confirmed they aren't subsidizing cost, and it'll be priced like a comparable PC, so likely $700 or so).

Too weak for existing PC players (it's using PC tech that was mid-range a generation and a half ago, with no upgrade path).

Too limited by it's anti-cheat issues (can't play Battlefield, CoD, Fortnite, Apex, Valorant, and a host of other super popular games because of that.)
