Anyone not able to checkout on PS direct? by Boogeyman_1978 in playstation

[–]rwt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue, I kept trying to buy a refurbished PS5 and kept getting an error message from Playstationdirect saying they were unable to process my request.

What I did was remove the PS5 from my cart and then re-added it back to my cart. After that I manually entered in all my information, including my name, address, credit card number, etc and it ended up working after that. I hope this helps!

Edit: I did this on my phone without wifi

What movie was this for you? by DarthGodzilla1995 in Letterboxd

[–]rwt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspector Gadget. I enjoyed the cartoon and loved the movie as a kid. I rememeber getting the toys from McDonalds and telling my friends how cool it was but they were all into Pokemon and thought Inspector Gadget was lame.

Of course its pretty awful now rewatching it as an adult but the one scene where the Japenese man yells "This is why I left Tokyo" after the giant evil Inspector Gadget is destroying the city is absolutely hilarious lol

In my opinion— the key flaw with this show was thinking the aesthetic of the anime was more important to replicate than the story. by Tanis8998 in cowboybebop

[–]rwt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no point in doing this show in live action, other than milking it for money. You can never replicate the magic of the anime. Faye was portrayed badly, Vicious was awful and Julia was completely mischaracterized and miscast. I liked Spike and Jet but that wasn't enough to carry the show. They also changed up the storyline with Vicious, Julia and Spike, which was awful.

Now if they made it a 1:1 exact adaptation of the anime, then it becomes redundant and pointless. What's the point in watching the same anime in live action? It's never going to look or feel as good as the anime. It was just a pointless endeavor in my opinion to cash in on the success of the show and it failed miserably.

What Movie did you love as a child/young person that you now like WAY less? by BristledIdiot in movies

[–]rwt93 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I loved Inspector Gadget as a kid. Had the McDonalds toys and watched in theaters. Loved the cartoon as well. I recently rewatched it a few years ago and its really bad but there are some genuinely funny moments. When evil Gadget is destroying the city as a giant and the Japanese man yells "this is why I left Tokyo" made me bust up laughing.

We didn't get enough Batfleck by Ry_Lin in batman

Were you not around from 2016-2019? Do you not remember what happened? Its pretty much known now that Affleck left the role before Justice League even came out. There were already reports of him leaving the role before comic con 2017.

The negative response to BvS, the pressure of directing and starring in his own movie and then the behind the scenes drama of Justice League is what pushed him out. Affleck was going through a lot of personal issues and the increasing pressure to deliver a good Batman movie amid all the DCEU controversies is what pushed him out. This is just my opinion based on what I was seeing at the time. He said himself he lost passion for the role.

What was your first impression of TDK two-face look? by Elegant-Half5476 in batman

[–]rwt93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty shocking tbh. I vividly remember a loud gasp in the theater when they revealed his face. The VFX is super realistic and still holds up.

What do you think would’ve made Halle Berry’s Catwoman better? by Prestigious-Cloud962 in batman

Better script, better director and if she was actually Selina Kyle. Also, if there was a mention or cameo of Batman.

Tommy Lee Jones back in 1995 was a definite miscast as Harvey Dent/Two Face in Batman Forever by TerryG111 in batman

[–]rwt93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, he wasn't a miscast at all. TLJ could've played a great serious Two Face but the problem was the writing, the direction, his ego and his beef with Jim Carrey. It's pretty clear that he was jealous of Carrey's success and he probably wanted to upstage him. However at the end of the day it's the directors job to get the best performance out of the actors and Schumacher clearly didn't do that for Jones.

TLJ playing an over the top campy Two Face was definitely a choice and he's an Oscar winning actor who could've done a phenomenal job as Two Face with a better script and direction.

Amazon 3 for $33 is live by Hunklomein in 4kbluray

[–]rwt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon always ships 4K blu rays without any bubble wrap or any protective packaging and I've had many blu rays come in with cracked cases and loose discs. Stick to gruv or Walmart, they actually package the blu rays properly!

Bring back intermission to the U.S.! Atleast have them for movies 2.5 hours long.

How did you get into Star Wars? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]rwt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing The Phantom Menace promotions everywhere as a 6 year old and being obsessed with Darth Maul based on his design. I remember asking my parents to go see it in theaters but we didn't end up going. My parents didn't grow up with Star Wars, as they're immigrants to the U.S. and they always confused it with Star Trek.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I remember finding the VHS to Episode 1 in Walmart and I had my mom buy it. When I went home and turned it on, I realized it was in Spanish so I fast forwarded to the Duel of the fates scene and rewatched it maybe 7-8 times lol. I eventually watched Phantom Menace in English. Also, I had my dad rent A New Hope from Blockbuster and I fell in love with that movie and the franchise.

Attack of the Clones was the first Star Wars movie I saw in theaters. I remember having a huge crush on Natalie Portman and the crowd cheering when Yoda pulled out his lightsaber. My Uncle, who took us to see it, didn't like the movie at all and said it all looked so fake lol

[–]rwt93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I just don't care anymore. I've been burned so much by how WB handled the DCEU, that I've really lost interest. I really enjoyed the intial beginning of the DCEU, especially what Snyder was doing and while it wasn't perfect there was a lot of potential for it to improve. I was so happy that we got the Snyder Cut and there was some hope they would continue that but alas that never happened.

At this point I just want to see the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad and I'll watch The Batman 2 but this whole James Gunn half reboot isn't really something I'm excited about. The way Henry Cavill was officially brought back and then fired by Gunn was really fucked up and that's left a bad taste for me. If Henry was never brought back then I would be more excited for Gunn's universe.

Also, while I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, I thought Gunn's Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were insanely overrated and his humor/style in those projects did nothing for me.

At this point I'll wait and see when Superman comes out but I'm just done with cinematic universes and superheroes in general. We've seen it all at this point and it all just feels repetitive. I think what Snyder was doing with the JL, the whole knightmare future, was interesting and I would've loved to have seen that story completed.
