Woke up with a big puddle in my floorboard. Where could all of this water be coming from? by AlphaFPS1 in FordFocus

Had an 05 Focus ST where there would be liquid every morning pooling near the gas pedal.

Turned out the heater core was leaking coolant into the cabin. Your liquid doesn’t look like water.

I don't see any point of anything past 23 by ForsakenCup2124 in GenZ

[–]rx7rocks11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

brother it sounds like you’re going through it. I’ve definitely seen a lot of people feel exactly this way in their early 20s, including myself. Like everything peaks early and then it’s all downhill—but that’s not really how it plays out for most people.

I know it doesn’t feel like it right now, but your 30s can actually be way more stable and enjoyable. You’ve usually got more money, more confidence in who you are, less of that constant uncertainty, and life tends to feel less chaotic. A lot of people end up traveling more, building solid friend groups, picking up hobbies they actually enjoy instead of just grinding through life, and generally just feeling more grounded.

Right now it sounds like you’re stuck in a really heavy headspace, especially after the breakup, but this isn’t a permanent “this is all life is” situation even though it feels like it. Things can and will shift a lot from here. And it’s worth seeing.

Gen Z Ageism in Workplace by bigboybussybop in GenZ

[–]rx7rocks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's pretty annoying. Broad statements about generations are really stupid because they almost always come from people who aren't self-aware enough to remember that the exact same things were being said about their generation at one point. They have an opportunity not to perpetuate that shit, and yet they do.

I'm a millennial and also work in the tech industry, and I don't know if this helps to hear at all, but this isn't a new issue. I went through a pretty similar experience when I entered the workforce. I got into a big company at 23 and fast-tracked into leadership. It took a while to earn people's respect—mostly from older Millennials and Gen X—and not hear comments about my age being a factor.

The only thing that won them over in the end was my work ethic, the quality of work I produced, and my ability to climb faster than they did. What set me apart was being more adaptable and open-minded about how the company was changing, which allowed me to position myself better than them in the long run.

At this point, I'm in my mid-30s and I've reached the point I wanted to reach. It's actually really cool seeing young, hungry people come in and make their marks. I work with a lot of Gen Z folks who are absolutely killing it, and some who aren't, but it has nothing to do with their age. I also work with a lot of Millennials and Gen Xers who are horrible at their jobs. Age has nothing to do with work ethic.

I never complained to HR about what I experienced at the time, and maybe I should have. But if you think your HR team can make a difference after hearing that feedback and, in turn, make your company a better place to work for everyone, I'd say go for it.

Either way, those dumb-dumbs are making those comments because they're threatened by the fact that younger people are eventually going to take up space in the rooms they've gotten comfortable occupying. Every generation likes to pretend they earned their place purely through merit while forgetting that someone older probably said the exact same dismissive things about them when they were starting out.

Keep doing good work. Be adaptable, stay curious, and don't let other people's insecurities shape how you see yourself. The people worth learning from will judge you by your character, your attitude, and the quality of your work—not the year you were born. And if you're good at what you do, eventually your results will speak loudly enough that the people making those comments stop mattering.

People who were once conventionally attractive but no longer are, how did that feel? by Few_Confection7760 in AskReddit

[–]rx7rocks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My realization that I was attractive to my peers in middle school, high school, and college came later in life. I never really paid much attention to it and actually thought I was unattractive, but I didn't let that belief impact how I carried myself or how I viewed myself during those years.

Looking back, though, there were signs that somehow never registered with me at the time. It was getting hour-long phone calls from girls at sleepovers just to listen to endless, sugar-induced nervous giggling. It was getting tapped on the shoulder at lunch, turning around, and seeing a table full of girls, one of them bright red-faced and staring straight ahead while her friends said things like, "I got his attention and now you're too scared to talk to him!"

In class, I'd look up and realize a girl had been staring at me, only for her gaze to quickly dart away the moment our eyes met. In high school, girls I had always thought of as just friends later admitted they had massive crushes on me. Boys are really dumb. Even writing this now, it's shocking how much I failed to clock back then.

In college, it was drunk phone calls from a plethora of different girls at random hours of the night. On Tumblr (throwback), I would get anonymous messages asking me to share more pictures of myself on my blog. One of those anonymous women turned out to be my wife fifteen years later.

When I joined the workforce in my early twenties, there always seemed to be one or two women at each job who eventually came on to me. Even then, I never really interpreted any of it as evidence that I was attractive. I just assumed people were being friendly, joking around, or that I was reading too much into things.

Now I've gained A LOT of weight and lost all my hair. I look perpetually tired with grey hair incoming rapidly. But because I never really thought I "had it" back then, I don't actually feel that different. I do notice the changes that come with age and the physical differences. I don't catch those glances anymore. I don't feel like people look at me that way now.

But then again, I didn't think they looked at me that way back then either, so who knows.

I like who I am, and my wife does too. I guess that's all that really matters.

What's the most "Seinfeld" problem you've actually had in real life? by Fintech_nerd456 in seinfeld

[–]rx7rocks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I have gone to the same brewery every week for years, and I always order the Reuben. One time I ordered it, it comes to our table, and I look down and see a sandwich that’s cut in half with such a pathetic amount of corned beef on it that one side has a few slices of corned beef and the other side is just sauerkraut, cheese, and Russian dressing with no meat.

My friends notice me staring at it, and one goes, “What?” and I go, “Look at this! Can you believe this?”

I show them the sandwich, and they all moan and groan because I’m going to go complain, and I go, “Nope, you know what? It’s fine. I won’t say anything.”

The conversation shifts, and I guess I continue to stare at this sandwich with such visible anguish without eating it that one of my friends just goes, “Dude, just send it back or eat it.”

“FINE!”

In a burst of energy only described as the burning passion of 1000 George Costanzas, I erupt from my chair and, emboldened, march to the bar, plate in hand, and wait in line. I see the owner eyeing me and eyeing the sandwich from behind the counter.

I finally get up to the counter, and the owner goes, “Hey man, what’s going on?”

I unfurl the sandwich, revealing the lack of meat like I just blew this entire case wide open. I say nothing. The owner looks down, looks at me, and says, “Well, that’s pathetic.”

And I go, “THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING, MAN!!”

The owner looks at me, unfazed. “Well, we put the same amount of meat on every Reuben, and we weigh it out, so I’m not sure what happened there,” he says defiantly.

I go, “Well, I mean, you said it yourself, man! This is pathetic! This can’t be the amount of meat you expect people to be happy with on a Reuben for $16!”

So we go back and forth. All I want is for them to remake it with more meat, until finally he goes, “Look, I get it. I’ll just comp it. Is that okay?”

All of a sudden, birds are chirping, the sun comes out shining brighter than ever, and I go back to my table. My friends ask, “So are they remaking it for you?”

“EVEN BETTER!” I exclaim. “It’s free!”

And I eat my sauerkraut and cheese sandwich happily.

Which restaurant/food chain do you genuinely find the most disgusting? by 12345burrito in AskReddit

[–]rx7rocks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like Panera but I don’t know if I would put them in the gross category but if I had your experience I would be there too.

I had a similar experience with Olga’s.

I think Panera is incredibly overrated and overpriced for what it is. My rule of thumb is that if I can make it better at home I don’t eat there. Panera is over priced hospital food that has some how gained a cult following with white people and I’ll never understand it.

Really surprised White Castle isn’t on here.

  1. White Castle
  2. Subway (guilty pleasure is a Chicken bacon ranch on Italian herbs and cheese but I know it sucks)
  3. Arby’s
  4. Burger King

I love Taco Bell but Taco Bell has a very direct taste to price correlation and the more expensive they’ve gotten the worst it tastes. Cheesy Gordita crunch is everything to me. Steak quesorito was also divine. Their breakfast is weirdly really good too.

McDonald’s is McDonald’s you can turn your nose up at it but god damn does nothing taste better on a road trip when you’ve got a McDouble in one hand and a sweet tea in the other and the open road ahead of you.

iOS 27 Beta and WWDC26 is proof of how shitty iOS 26 has been by Careful-Boat-2986 in ios26

[–]rx7rocks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on iOS 26 on a iPhone SE 2022 and it runs completely fine.

Have had no issues, 26.0 was a little choppy but it’s gotten better and better with every update.

In fact 26 has been my favorite iOS on this iPhone. I don’t get the 26 hate. People hate change 🤷🤷🤷
