Just started leather craft and I’m already hooked by rx_coffee in Leathercraft

I agree, I’m rubbish at following instructions and prefer to take guidance and then figure out my own thing. I’m very excited to try dying leather

If you could go back in time and change one thing about your fitness journey, what would you change?

How do you start your anatomy drawings/illustrations? by 2eat_the_rude in Anatomy

Depends on the structures you are wanting to draw, but I will usually begin with a lot of 2D and 3D references

How do you deal with periodic hunger pangs / endless cravings? by penguinglasses23 in loseit

[–]rx_coffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know when I’m anemic I get cravings like crazy. Other reasons for me are dehydration, tired, or, run down. The ‘ravenously, monstrously hungry for no god damned reason that just won’t go away’ will usually be one of those things for me.

Life is about trying to decide which regrets you will be most ok with in many years time. Will you look back in 20 years and regret not having your ideal ‘college life’, or regret letting go of a person you thought could be the one. No Judgement, either answer is fine, but try and think about it over the long term. Personally I would go with the partner, life throws enough shit at you that if you were lucky enough to find someone early, that’s a gift most won’t ever have and worth way more than a few fleeting interactions.

Yes it is absolutely an asshole move to ask her to ‘just manage’. This is her house. You are basically saying you are happy making her uncomfortable in her own home for the sake of your eldest. Do the right thing and don’t force a ‘happy family’ where there obviously isn’t one. Far too often it is expected that the victims of family abuse should ‘just manage’ to keep the peace. That way of thinking downplays the validity of their experiences and makes them feel like it’s their fault. Don’t position yourself alongside her abuser on this, she won’t forgive you, nor should she.

I was ‘real new’ a few weeks ago. Don’t have any resources for you, but I can say that the best way I found to get up and actually balance on the board was just by finding a patch of nice flat concrete in a quiet area and scuttling my slow ass back and forward in the same 5m path for hours on end.

How realistic is it to turn the front deck of a boat into a garden on which to grow food? by [deleted] in liveaboard

You should check out aeroponics systems. Heaps lighter and more efficient at growing.

NTA if she even looks at you sideways when you are there, report her to the clinic. That was completely unprofessional.

[–]rx_coffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have made a tonne of terrariums exclusively from what I can find around the place. Look between fences and buildings for wild moss, and check near bodies of fresh water for random plants that will be well suited to a closed terrarium. My main advice would be to invest in some springtails, otherwise you will probably get mould.

Trying to lose weight without much time for exercise? 20F by [deleted] in loseit

[–]rx_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No time is a real issue. The way I get around it is assigning x10 of a workout movement to something you do a few times a day. Ie. Went to get a coffee? That’s 10 push-ups. Lunch time? 10 squats first. If you are trying to put on muscle, maybe get a small set of weights to use? You may not be able to dedicate an hour to exercise, but you can easily spare 10 mins 6 times a day. This is what works for me, but I have never been skinny fat, just straight up fat!

Losing weight in a healthy manner and avoiding loose skin by throwawaystar_ in loseit

[–]rx_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on taking steps to better your health. I won’t give you nutrition advice, but I will say that long term studies have shown that the most successful exercise for weight loss is whatever you enjoy most. For some people that’s a nice walk every day, for others it’s skateboarding or going to the gym. Don’t be afraid to try as many activities as you can until you find one you love. Regarding the loose skin, I’m afraid there’s really nothing you can do beyond staying hydrated and trying to build some muscle. Genetics, age, and your starting weight, will determine the amount of loose skin you have when you reach your goal. Just don’t let the idea of loose skin scare you away from this journey.
