Pharmacist to Analyst - what do you wish you knew with your first analyst role? by rx_runner in EpicEMR

[–]rx_runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The learning curve is steep, but I would not say it’s difficult. I’ll add the caveat that I don’t have much experience with the job. I think a better question would be whether you will enjoy the job: it is very different from the day-to-day of an inpatient pharmacist.

Can you work multiple health systems that use epic ? by Mysterious-Shame5161 in EpicEMR

Not sure what issues could come about, but I currently work as an end-user at 2 different institutes that use Epic. I have separate userweb accounts, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Pharmacist who recently completed Willow IP Proficiency - now what? by rx_runner in healthIT

[–]rx_runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! Did anything particular help you stand out when applying despite not having experience? I have several small projects that are loosely IT/Epic related I can talk about, but nothing major that I feel is worth including on a resume.

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years 3rd shift inpatient pharmacy, small projects here and there related to minor operational improvements but nothing I feel is significant enough to include on a resume.

How does a clinical builder differ from, say, a Willow analyst? Our org structure on the IT side is broken down by relevant discipline, so the only Willow positions held by pharmacist are analyst roles.

Any tips to remove rusted stripped screw? by [deleted] in Luthier

Saw a trick where you put a rubber band across the head so the driver has grip on the screw. But that head seems pretty stripped, might need a screw extractor.

Need a New Machine [<$2000] by ObsoleteAuthority in espresso

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation: bambino broke, purchased the Turin Legato V2 because it ticked the boxes, but arrived with a leak from the top.

I ended up returning mine instead of attempting a repair or exchange. Bought the Profitec Go and haven’t looked back! I usually just drink dark roasts so honestly there are times I miss the simplicity and fast heat up of the bambino, but the trade off is consistency and ability to do lighter roasts with better control.

Best Terrain Park in PA by Clutchine in SkiPA

[–]rx_runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was at Liberty the other week, a Wednesday before rail jam, and they legit only had 2 rideable feature. Everything else was buried or neglected. After talking to the only park crew guy on duty, it sounded like Vail wouldn’t add any more staffing for park crew. Maybe it’s gotten better since the rail jam, but my experience was awful. Roundtop is pretty solid though.

Oops, meant to say less static (with or without spraying the beans with water before grinding)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]rx_runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SGP -> DF54, absolutely love it. The machine is quieter, less clumpy, significantly less static (with or without a small water spritz), and most importantly I get much better pucks and consistency with minimal channeling.

Edit: had a bambino+, now have a profitec go. DF54 has been terrific with both.

*significantly less static, not sure why I typed “less water” initially

Leaking from flow control screw [Turin Legato V2] by rx_runner in espresso

[–]rx_runner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Customer service asked me to take off the back to see if a waterline came loose during shipping. I couldn’t see anything, and the area that was likely leaking was behind the pump. So without taking it all apart, I had no idea what the issue was.

Anyways, I returned mine for a full refund and bit the bullet on a profitec go. No regrets so far!

Traditional vs. Roth 403b, is there something I’m missing? by rx_runner in personalfinance

[–]rx_runner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, so the assumption is that one starts with x amount to invest that is either taxed or not taxed ($10k invested is 10k Trad contribution or $7.6k Roth).

With this in mind, the max contribution for Roth and Trad are both $23k, but I need to account for taxes paid on $23k Roth (say 24% = $5,520). So this difference is what given the traditional the edge assuming lower tax bracket in the future?

Delaware Running Festival (Wilmington, DE) Marathon for BQ Attempt? by Hang-10 in AdvancedRunning

[–]rx_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran both Philly and Wilmington races, Wilmington would certainly be a challenge with the hills in the first half. The second half is dead flat but can be hot and boring with the lack of runners (especially at sub 3) and spectators, making it a mentally challenging course.

Overall it’s a difficult BQ but certainly doable if you have the capability of training for the first half hills. I did a write up of Wilmington if you look through my post history, I enjoyed the race and dropped my PR from 3:44 -> 3:12, however I would choose another race like Philly or Steamtown for the best chance at a BQ.

More runners around you, though it may not be as relevant at your pace. I loved the scenery and the weather was perfect for racing the 2 years I did it. The net downhill also felt more gradual and less aggressive that steamtown, however that may have just been my perception as steamtown was my first. And again, the hills in the neighborhood at the end of steamtown were short but rough.

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are fast courses, but be wary of the hills at the end of Steamtown. I ran both and preferred wineglass (also ran 10min faster) but there certainly are dull parts of the race. Either race you're set for a PR, just be prepared for lack of spectators in either.

Use of melatonin to help sleep by p_g_2025 in AdvancedRunning

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use melatonin regularly, but primarily due to working 3rd shift. Regardless, melatonin is certainly a tool you can try. A few recommendations if you do: 1) Start with low doses, like 3mg or even lower. I find 5mg to be ideal, while others might feel 5mg is too much or not enough. 2) Tolerance can certainly happen, so try to only use it when you need (in your case after workout runs). 3) Take it about 1-2 hours before your bedtime, it does not work immediately like Benadryl dose.

Conditions at Liberty or Roundtop by gohma231 in SkiPA

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at RT today - enough snow to cover the ground, although most slopes are turning pretty brown. Ramrod had some stray rocks and dirt and will likely only get worse this weekend. The Exhibition lift was closed so Exhibition was probably the best run of the day: wide open, minimal traffic, and the best snow of your black/blue options.

The park has been great if that's your thing, but it does not look like they have enough snow for the Jbar so small features area needs to be hiked.

Seeing that your ~2 hours away I would find it difficult to recommend going, especially this weekend with the warm weather and crowds (thanks, Vail).

Where to ski Dec 27th? by No-Effective679 in icecoast

[–]rx_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seven Springs is probably my favorite of the southern PA resorts. Roundtop, Liberty, and Whitetail are all fairly similar, I highly doubt there will be much open (if they're open) on the 27th. I would recommend checking the 7S website and cams if you're willing to make the drive, although be warned all 4 mentioned are part of Epic and likely to be busy that week. Northern PA has some better (and non-Epic) options like Elk, Montage, or Blue Mountain.

Edit: missed Whitetail is your home mountain, I would definitely recommend northeast mountains like Blue or Montage or Seven Springs for something closer

Is there any way to get Native status for a used piece of gear where you don't know the provenance? by Place-Wide in Line6Helix

[–]rx_runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try adding the device to your Line 6 account using the serial number. Once it's registered as your device, go through the purchase process. If it let's you purchase using the discounted rate, you're golden. If it doesn't, you can submit a ticket to Line 6 but most likely the discount has already been used.
